Meet Chris Ahlman

We recently connected with Chris Ahlman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

From a very young age I have been involved with the Arts. Due to a shoulder injury when I was about ten years old, I was not able to participate a lot in sports. That situation allowed me to get deeply involved in theater and music. Through my younger years I had a number of leading roles in local theater productions. I had an awesome experience playing Groucho Marx in a children’s theater production of “Animal Crackers.” That was my first leading role in my early teens.. Musically I played the piano and saxophone growing up before switching to guitar and combining that with singing when I was fifteen. All these factors undoubtedly led to a strong sense of confidence and self-esteem as I grew up.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I play music for a living. These days I typically do one-hundred plus shows per year. A lot of the stuff I’ve been doing recently is solo gigs, just me singing and playing my acoustic guitar. I love doing it. I’ve got five different album that I’ve released over my career, and a sixth on the way. I’ve been doing most of the production of my recordings in Nashville with my producer Cliff Goldmacher. He has a studio there where we recorded our last album together, The SunCrashers. That record actually made it onto the charts, making its debut on the Americana/Country album chart at #10, as reported Roots Music Report. I’m headed back to Nashville later this year in the middle of September to record a brand new album. We’ve already got a couple musicians locked in who we’ve recorded with in the past including Kerry Marx and his wife Catherine. They have played on my last two albums and are absolutely top notch. Kerry plays electric guitar and serves as Music Director at the Grand Ole Opry, and Catherine plays piano and Hammond B3 organ, working with artists like Willie Nelson and Reba McEntire. They both recently played with Taylor Swift. All of my albums are available to stream on the major platforms, and the next album will probably be released in early 2026.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Interest- do something you’re interested in.
Heart- Be yourself and try and put your best foot forward in what you’re involved in.
Be nice to people, nuff said.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

They were able to send me to a boarding school for high school. That changed everything in a good way.
