Meet Chris Allen

We recently connected with Chris Allen and have shared our conversation below.

Chris, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Over the last few years I’ve been looking at many ways to boost my confidence and self esteem through affirmations and fitness, but It wasn’t til I started modeling that I discovered a true confidence in myself. It took me a bit of time to gain the courage being in the category a plus size male model and being a little unsure if there was a market for men of size to express themselves in fashion but when I finally braved it and took a chance, I felt like I was rediscovering myself in a different way. Seeing myself through the eye of others in way I didn’t know I could be seen was encouraging and reminded me with some courage and confidence I could be I could express myself in a unique way. But what was more inspiring was see the impact It made on other men like me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Well, hello everyone my name is Chris Allen also known by my stage name August! I am a versatile independent Singer-Songwriter and Model native to South
Kansas City. I started my musical journey at the age of 19. I discovered a passion for music in my early teens, when I started in Classical Music. Later that developed into love for other genres but more specifically Worship. My sound consist of a unique blend of contemporary Christian, gospel, jazz, and hip-hop influence. My brand continues to look for ways to collaborate with talented artists and push the boundaries of Christian music, while continuously making strides in the Christian music scene. Beyond music, I start my own creative agency in 2022, which inspired me to try my hand in the fashion industry. I believe my brand is not only redefining the boundaries of style and creativity but also inspiring and motivating others. Looking ahead I believe the future is bright, and plan to make a lasting impact on the world through his music, fashion, and unwavering passion.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three area on my journey that have been the most impactful in my life are my desire to be passionately authentic, resilience, and my faith in Christ. If I were able to encourage anyone in their own journey I would remind them first that they are enough and they already have everything inside of them that they need to accomplish what they are being called to. However in your journey you must be patient with yourself, take calculated risk, and remember it takes a ton of courage and a whole lot of faith to be authentically you. To do things that have never been done before is an art form in itself and there will be a whole lot of thing you can’t see or understand along the way so don’t get discouraged when you make mistakes! Pick up, learn from it, and keep moving because eventually it will all come together!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I am totally looking the collaborate! I believe one of the challenges of being an independent creative/entrepreneur is that often times the grind is experienced with long hours and doing it alone. So it’s easy to forget that there’s a whole community of creatives and entrepreneurs just like you grinding it out but are also willing to provide information and community. I am looking to collaborate with others that are not just being creative but are looking for an authentic community and ways to use their creativity to inspire and help others.
