Meet Chris Elijah

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chris Elijah a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Chris, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my faith in God and the visions He has placed in my heart. There have been countless times I’ve wanted to give up, but the thought of not fulfilling God’s purpose for my life outweighs any fear of failure. His plan is greater than my doubts, and that keeps me moving forward.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Chris Elijah, an artist, storyteller, and creative visionary from Atlanta, Georgia, dedicated to using my gifts to uplift, inspire, and challenge the culture through faith-driven music and media. My journey hasn’t been easy—I was saved in my early twenties, but before and even after that, I’ve witnessed heartbreak, the loss of close friends and family, divorce, and life’s heavy trials. But through it all, God has been faithful. Now, I’m remarried with two amazing kids—C.J. and Cherish, who inspire me every day to keep pushing forward.

What makes my work special is that it’s real, raw, and relevant. I don’t shy away from the struggles people face daily, but I always make sure to point them back to God’s truth, hope, and purpose. Whether through music, film, or storytelling, I want to create experiences that spark conversation, conviction, and change.

Right now, I’m focused on creating music that glorifies God while breaking barriers and reaching the culture in a real way. But beyond music, my vision is even bigger—I want to create feature films where culture meets faith, bringing stories to life that reflect both the struggles and redemptive power of God.

As a father, artist, filmmaker, writer, and producer, I believe in the power of storytelling to shift atmospheres and challenge perspectives. Whether through a song, a film, or a message, my goal is to make an impact that leads people back to God.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the biggest things that kept me going were faith, putting in the work, and working with the right people—plus prayer and making sure I enjoy the process. Faith kept me from giving up when things got tough. I had to stay locked in on my craft because talent alone ain’t enough—you gotta put in the time. Surrounding myself with solid people helped me grow and get better. And through it all, prayer kept me focused, making sure I was moving with purpose. At the end of the day, I remind myself to have fun with it—because when you love what you do, it shows.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Three books that have shaped me are The Bible, The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, and anything by Dr. Myles Munroe. The Bible is my foundation—scriptures like Proverbs 3:5-6 remind me to trust God’s plan even when I don’t understand it. The Purpose Driven Life taught me that true success isn’t about fame or money but fulfilling God’s purpose. Dr. Myles Munroe’s books opened my eyes to vision, leadership, and kingdom principles, teaching me to think beyond myself and build something lasting. These books have shaped me as an artist, creator, and man
