Meet Chris Grubisa

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chris Grubisa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Chris with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic rooted from my parents. My mother and father are both came from families who didn’t come from much. My mother and father parented my sister and I very well, that’s what provided me the option to dream and dream big. Then on to take action on those dreams → turned vision → turned reality. My mother being a teacher and my father working real estate, each in their respective industries. – GET. YOU. WORKIN’. I was raised every night to finish homework first, then play. I resented it through all school, looking back on the bigger picture – thankful. What a trait and gift it’s provided me. It’s given me the confidence that I can do hard things. Both parents devoted themselves to their art. I only know my parents as a single career in my life. To me, that speaks to commitment and dedication. Qualities that arrow back to work ethic.

Having a dream paired with my work ethic, intersected with skateboarding and video making. Making it unstoppable. Two highly competitive environments.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I have been creating videos since the 4th grade. Media and I both found each other through other forms of art: skateboarding being the first, followed by cooking. And honestly simply making anything look cool. Capturing something and then presenting. It started with making videos from hobbies with friends, then watching it back together with friends. Leading on to schooling, having mini premieres and now to living it full time here in Los Angeles.

I have devoted my life to the most powerful tool in the world: media. It’s a passion and a VERY powerful tool. Today, a leader in video editing.

Over the years of dedication I have fallen in love with video editing. “Let’s Cook Editing Service” is under my leadership. Our video editing services empower Brands, Creators,

Podcasters, and Agencies to scale their businesses.

Let’s Cook is made of two parts, servicing leading brands of the world with quality video edits. And building a kick ass, deep loving, nourishing relationship video editing community.

I take pride in collaborating with industry leaders, using media as a powerful vehicle for our work.

To the majority we are typically unseen, however we as editors are every where. Consider how many screens you’ve encountered today; all of them have undergone editing. Every piece of media you see has an editor behind it. What truly matters is how you craft the narrative, articulate your message, and convey it effectively through visuals. → storytelling. I’ve been story telling since the 4th grade. – The influence it carries runs deep. THE most powerful tool in the world. It carries the ability to change lives, create impact. I am a believer, it’s changed my life. Which is why I have devoted my life to video editing, video creation. – Let’s Cook Video Editing Services.

We are everywhere. We are the cut.

Our products have recently launched on our site, something that’s never been shown in this light before. Typically video editors are kept in the dark, away, inside. We’re changing that at Let’s Cook Video Editing Services. Have a look – https://letscookedits.myshopify.com/

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1) Being open.

2) Lead with heart.

3) Think with your head.

4) Have fun. (The question asked for 3, I chose 4. I will give one more: 5) Give more.)

I’ve learned so many rich lessons along the way, that carry depth. I made myself look and feel so stupid. You have to be able to be open. Authentically. Transactionally. Mentally. My friends have this saying I read it every time I am at their house on their kitchen wall “Everything in life depends on your attitude” – it’s true. You can control you: your effort and attitude. nothing else, really.

Question people’s opinions and think on it. Master the art being uncomfortable, accept the resistance and marinate in it and reflect on it.

Lead with heart, love has never let me down.

– “If you show me love, I’ll show you some more” – Chance The Rapper.

It’s all a game and no one gets outta here alive. Enjoy the journey. – Laugh more. Not this or that, both. Life is an abundance.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My circle has been the most supportive, helpful and continually enhancing.

Beginning with my wife. My rock. She’s the #1 person I go to navigate almost everyday life. She’s my guard rail. It’s fun to bounce ideas off of, consistently grow, or someone to cook with. (Food, not video editing, haha) Her laugh lights me up large. My kids, my puppy dog, who light my fire and who put my feet to the fire and help me grow that fire. (- It’s a special dynamic we have, together hahah)

My close friends aka → my created family. From family bbq’s, to our kids birthday parties. It’s like a “creative jam” every time we hang. – it’s either laughing our asses off, one upping each other, helping each other by being any sort of resource, poking fun, or telling it like it is, or everything all at once. As they put weight on the bar. – They make me bigger as a person. Thank y’all.

Spanning to our community. The people that help enhance who we are. From book keepers, accountants, teachers, neighbors, to social media following. ALL of the people I come across in my life support me, I’m sure some don’t even know it! 🙂 I see it. I see them. I created a company centered around video editing basically “cooking” so without that tiny pinch of that ONE single ingredient – the whole thing wouldn’t be the same. Together. Thank your bag person at check out. All of it reflects character and mindset. My father always taught me, you become the company you keep.
