Meet Chris Hughes II

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chris Hughes II. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chris below.

Hi Chris, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
All my life I have been different from others. Large, Tall, Black, Speak with manners, Soft spoken, Self aware and Patience. My confidence stems from within, I’m not sure it’s from Will Power or me simply knowing I can bring change to the world with my Talents. Wether I’m doing voice over work using different voices, or giving some of the best advice I didn’t know I could give. I know who I am and I know who I want to be in this world, and nobody will change that for me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Christopher Michael Hughes II, I’m 29, based in Michigan and I love to make people smile. I love photography, there’s something about capturing a moment that brings me peace. Nature, Celebrations, Events, Filming Movies it’s all considered my happy place when I’m behind a camera.

When I’m not operating a camera, I would love to be a voice actor. Robin Williams and Jim Carry inspired me to bring out the funny when it comes to my voice. I don’t care if other people think I’m embarrassing myself, there is someone out there who loves what I do and wants me to continue to bring a smile to their face. James Avery (Uncle Phil) taught me that you can be serious and also have the best of times watching the show Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Those two will be the type of energy I give off in front of the camera and on the microphone.

I now am the proud owner of C2Images LLC, this is my photography company I started back in 2022. I have done Family Gatherings, Birthday Celebrations, Graduations, Baby Showers and Gender Reveals. All my life I was taking pictures, even when I was a kid my Great Aunt Linda would pass me the wind-up camera and tell me to take good pictures and I did just that.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My biggest area of growth was sticking to my prices and not changing things because of my relationship with my client. So moving forward, I build a contract with the client and make sure everything is how they want before we start shooting. I lost out on profit because I wanted to help them out, but I didn’t help myself, but hey you live and you learn.

If you are starting your own business, please create a team that is dedicated as you and stick to your word, don’t change multiple things when you promised something else. Believe in yourself and your team, because you wouldn’t have come as far as you have without your team. Skills that you must own are communication, patience, and leadership. Communication because if you fail to speak on something, information will be lost. Patience because you are dealing with multiple personalities, including your own. Leadership, someone on the team will come to you with a complaint or a non-agreement, if you don’t show companionship or some type of care or sensitivity to their issue, how can you expect them to follow your lead? All three skills play a key factor.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was they didn’t give up on me, they didn’t shy me away from my beliefs or kept me away from something I asked about. With the cards they were dealt, they made away for me to grow up in a positive aspect, even though my parents separated when I was a baby, I still seen both my parents. I lived with my Father and I’m his only child and I wouldn’t change that. I’m the oldest of 5 when it comes to my Mother, I have 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters and I love them all very much. I remember back in 5th Grade I was getting ready for my Christmas Concert and I walked passed the living room window and I had to double back cause I thought I seen my mother and sure enough it was her walking up the walk-way of the house with gifts and a ballon that said congrats, I was so happy to see her it brought tears to my eyes. I remember a time with my father I thought would never end. Me and my dad and my cousin was driving for hours it felt like to this place he called butterflies, I’m thinking its a bug museum or something, turns out it was this huge arcade place with roller coasters and bumper cars, I remember turning to look at my bad and all he did was smiled and told me “have fun son” I gave him a big hug and took off to the Bumper Cars. Fun times was had on both sides of the family, I thank them both for allowing me to be who am today.
