Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris McElroy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chris, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
There are a lot of people who don’t have the means to do what they love for a living. Even on my worst days, I remind myself I get to do what I love and get paid to do it, so I have no reason not to work with a smile every day,
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am focused on growing my brand and connecting with more creators to expand my network and work on exciting new projects.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patience, work ethic, and faith. In the business of film composing, it can often take years for a seed you planted to bear fruit for your career. It takes patience to wait for your network to grow, it takes work ethic to keep at it when things seem to be going nowhere, and it takes faith that the system has a way of working itself out if you stick around long enough and make a good impression.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
With the well-known strikes that have occurred in Hollywood, work has become sparse for everyone surrounding the industry as well, composers included. It has been a struggle to make ends meet for many of us and support our fellow creatives in their bid for better compensation, but things are now drawing to a close, and work is returning on the horizon! You do what you have to do sometimes financially during times like this, and now it looks like the challenge will resolve itself soon!
