Meet Chris Shields

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Shields. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Chris , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

5 Attributes to Staying Resilient

1. Identity – when you know who you are, you know what you have a right to. You have a right to the abundant life. Therefore, you will make a point to focus on looking forward to what is going to come rather than fixating on what you are enduring, knowing that what is to come is going to workout for your good if you choose to continue forward. The suffering only continues when you choose to stop, movement always stops the suffering and gets you to the desired destination.

2. Confidence – when you know who you are you, know how to act, so you don’t let things trying to steal your identity or confidence faultier you. My confidence comes from a dependence on God. When you are going through something the greatest thing attacked is your identity and confidence, but you keep your faith in God knowing he is the one that gives the attributes needed to make it through and you will never get off track but you will always keep moving forward.

3. Juncture – just because you’re going through it now doesn’t mean you will be going through it forever. Your consistency advances you faster than constantly switching up. Your ability to be consistent is a result of you knowing who you are. You are going through it to make you into the fullness of who you are called to be. It is a pivotal point for you so that you can become who you are suppose to be,it is something you will never forget. The key is to obtain everything you are suppose to through the juncture so that it is not repeated.

4. Faith- I keep my Faith in God, he is with me in every season . You will never know who you are if you don’t know who your creator is. Therefore you may think what you are going through is to hurt you when in reality it is actually to help you and strengthen you. God is good and only does good. You have to know him and have confidence in him to know what you are going through is just for a period of time and he has better things ahead for you.

5. You Win- You are a champion. When you know who you are, you win every time because you begin to realize what you go through isn’t to hurt you, but to instead make you stronger. Anytime you gain anything you don’t lose. The number one way we gain every time is in learning, choose today and everyday to learn. By doing that you are choosing to win everyday. “Champions are not those that never fail, but those that never quit.” – Ed Cole

Ultimately my resilience comes from God and trusting and having the confidence to believe what he says about me is greater than what anything else can say:

“I am the head and not the tail
Above and not beneath
The lender and not the borrower
Blessed in the city
Blessed in the country
Blessed going out and blessed going in
Everything my hands touch prospers
Because I am walking in your will and in your way
I am a trendsetter not just part of the trend
I am a difference maker not just part of the difference
I am a world changer not just part of the the change
But I am an originator, a pioneer, a pilgrim, a creator
Building for your kingdom for your glory

When you know who you are, and can make a point to remind yourself who you are daily and even in tough times nothing can stop you from moving forward.

You have the greatest author writing your story, continue to look unto him knowing that he has great things in store for you. Don’t forget the five attributes to staying resilient Identity, Confidence, Juncture, Faith, You Win!

What God does next, is greater than what you are going through and what he has ever done before in your life. Get Ready!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have committed my life to helping people find who they are called to be. In that they become all that they are called to be and walk in the fullness of who they are called to be. Therefore then helping others to do the same. A lot of the issues we deal with currently in our society is due to a lack of identity. If you have no identity you will have no confidence. When you find identity and confidence you find purpose. When you find purpose you are empowered to take action. When you learn who your identity and confidence comes from you get untouchable purpose. Knowing that the key to your success is in continually moving forward knowing that better days are ahead. Helping others know daily you win!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Dream – You have to clearly know what you want to accomplish, often times that comes to you in a dream.

Vision – Once you have dreamed, you will oftentimes have a vision of the details needed to accomplish your dream.

Action – Lastly, after you have had the dream and the vision, you will be able to put together everything you have foresaw to accomplish your goal and make your dream a reality by taking action.

Never doubt your dream, and there is no such thing as over planning. Don’t rush it take your time in properly thinking out all the details. No dream is too big. Oftentimes dreams don’t come true because the details aren’t considered to make them happen. A dreamer with no identity is a kidder, A dreamer with identity is a champion. A dreamer with identity will never quit until their dream is accomplished, a dreamer with no identity already did.

If you never have a dream, you will never have a vision therefore you will never take action. Have the dream, see the vision, and take the necessary steps for action. You are called to be a trend setter, difference maker, and world changer! You are a champion! Get it done the world needs your dream!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

What I have found is oftentimes we will as people get overwhelmed leading to frustration because we are moving too fast. What I have learned is to control the pace rather than allowing the pace to control me. The way that I do this is through meditation for instance I’ll take fifteen to thirty minutes out of my day to meditate. Not to sleep or take a nap but to meditate to be silent and ponder. Allowing myself to take control again of my day. Knowing that I have other things that I could be doing but instead prioritizing getting my day in order. I have watched this change my days many times and bring peace into areas of stress. Peace is the fuel to productivity. You don’t want to just have days you want to have productive days. I have found the key is controlling the pace of your day. Not allowing the pace of the day control you. Where peace is the proper rhythm is to keep the day going in the proper way. Choose peace every time!
