We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chris Thomas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chris below.
Chris, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing confidence and self-esteem is kind of one of those things. I learned growing up. To take things on myself and make them the way I kinda had envisioned them. I always have thought I a could do almost anything given chance and opportunity i would give it hell.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At this point I am currently running and tattooing at our studio Golden Lotus Tattoo Studio. Which has been in business 18 years in the Little Rock Arkansas metro area. A little place we call home Sherwood, Arkansas. I have also been tattooing since 1997 which makes it 27 years I have been creating permanent art on skin. I honestly can’t believe some how in this strange world. I have found a way to create art on the daily.
My tattoo style has a big focus at the current time on larger black and grey
Tattoos.
Some of my best clients. just offer up the elements and ideas and the area for them to be place and just let me figure out the most cohesive flowing way for them to be represented. To make a timeless quality tattoo image.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at where this journey began. I have to say I have accomplished more than I ever thought i would. In a very competitive industry I have found a way to stay a relevant sought after tattoo artist. And i hope to even do more before it is all said and done.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to learn from every artist that I have had the opportunity to work with . They in someway helped shape me and my craft.
Honestly as you go along as a tattoo artist. You learn the ways you want to represent your person and your art. it’s a creative journey. That can’t be replicated. and I would hope that my art represents the best me.
As far as advice I would just say listen to all that our industry had to offer and soak it up. All that knowledge is what make us the artist we become,
Take chances an artist. Remember there isn’t a handbook. You write your own story.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Some of the biggest challenges in our industry today. Could be getting some newer clients the on the same page with the over their overall idea. Alot of client may have a preconceived ideas because the internet told them. . And the reality of some ideas is they have limtation. We are wanting to make sure they have a great understanding. That it takes both the client and artist collectively for a great tattoo. and at some point relac and let the artist be the artist they can be .. Each artist has their own way they will interpret the idea or ideas and how they the will tell the story through their art.
With all the top notch websites and social media sites one should be able make a great choice as to who is right for them, and what artist strikes them as great. put as much understudy in as possible. When choosing the best artist for your personal tattoo idea.
Good luck to all on that quest.
