We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chris Wane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chris below.
Chris, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
This was a big challenge for me at first but I think it became easier the more results we started to get for people inside the Advanced Dropshipping Academy. Once I saw people were seeing success from what we were teaching it reinforced that fact I did know what I was talking about and I was in a position to teach!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I started a side hustle around my full time job in 2014 which very quickly grew into a full time gig that allowed me to quit that job and go into online business full time.
I started by creating scaling e-commerce businesses and then naturally transitioned into online coaching and consulting where we teach people how to build launch and scale successful ecommerce business from home inside my Advanced Dropshipping Academy.
Since the academy launched in 2019, we’ve now helped thousands of people from over 160 different countries generate millions online!
I’ve also recently launched a new business in the digital marketing space (BlackSky Digital) where we help other coaches and consultants get more clients with paid advertising strategies and I’m looking to scale this to a 7 figure level like I have done with my ecom and coaching companies.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Commitment and the ability to overcome challenges is key. You also have to enjoy the journey otherwise you will find it too easy to quit.
I can easily find myself working 18 hours a day and not think about it because what I’m doing doesn’t feel like work, it’s a passion and I enjoy building business and seeing my clients do well.
My business has become part of my life, it’s a part of me now and I think it makes the challenges you inevitably face much easier to overcome.
You also have to be open to learning constantly. Knowledge and speed is key to stay ahead of the curve and be successful.
I think the most important skill I ever learnt was how to sell.
Once you know how to sell something, especially online, you can never be short of money ever again.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The number one challenge for me right now is deciding on which direction I want to take my business.
As the CEO I’m responsible for making strategic decisions that not only impact the growth of the business and my journey but they also impact my team.
The biggest challenge for me is deciding where I want to take the business next and having that vision and leadership to steer the ship that way.
When I first started my business it was a little side hustle with just me, I didn’t have to make big decisions.
However, these days, I have global multi seven figure business with a team that spans 5 different countries, there’s a lot more responsibility to get things right now and that’s a challenge I have to deal with!
