Meet Chrisshele Griffin

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chrisshele Griffin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Chrisshele, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism stems from my passion for baking and the freedom to be creative in my business, as well as mastering the ability to balance it with my professional career. When I started this, knowing I was working full-time and preparing to go back to school, I had no idea what it was going to look like. I’ve been in administrative roles for almost 20 years, and running my own business gives me a different outlet for expression and fulfillment. When I’m in the kitchen, my lab, I feel confident in my skills and have a clear vision on where I would love to take my business.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Chrisshele Griffin, first name is pronounced Chris-Shell, and I was born and raised in Southern California. I made my way over to Dallas, Texas in 2015 to try something new. I have always enjoyed baking. Since I was a kid and my mom would let me in the kitchen with her, I was baking. I even have an old picture on my website from many Christmases ago baking sugar cookies in my grandmother’s kitchen. Besides just loving sweets, I realized that I am truly happy when I am in the kitchen creating.

At MsChriss BAKES, I specialize in creating delicious, homemade baked goods that bring people together for special moments. From decadent brownies and cookies to uniquely flavored madeleines, everything I make is crafted with love, attention to detail, and high-quality ingredients. What’s most exciting for me is seeing the joy that these creations bring to my customers, whether it’s a birthday, a holiday gathering, or a custom order for an event.

What sets MsChriss BAKES apart is the personal touch. I present treats to my customers the way I want them presented to me. What you get from a baker versus the store is usually much better and I want to make sure they see that when they first lay their eyes on my desserts. Every creation is not just about taste, but also about the overall experience, from the packaging to the story behind the recipe. It’s a joy to be part of life’s celebrations, and that’s what makes my work so special!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’d say the three qualities or skills that were most impactful in my journey with MsChriss BAKES have been creativity, being business savvy and resiliency. Being creative with every dessert I bake has made a huge difference. From playing around with different mix-ins to being open to new flavor combinations, creativity has kept me energized and keep my customers coming back. I also love giving my customers some creative power as I am always open to suggestions from them.

Being business savvy is knowing that running a baking business requires more than just being a great baker. Understanding how to market, budget, and manage operations has been key to my growth. My advice for others is to invest time in learning the basics of business, whether through online courses, mentorship, or simply trial and error. Stay organized and treat your baking as a business from the start. Like any business, there are challenges, slow seasons, supply issues, or customer concerns. My ability to stay resilient, adapt, and not lose sight of my long-term vision has been crucial.

For those beginning their journey, I’d say the best thing you can do is commit to lifelong learning. Whether it’s improving your craft, learning new marketing techniques, or building emotional resilience, growth is key to long-term success. I recommend staying curious and open to inspiration from everyday life. Experiment often and push yourself out of your comfort zone. Remember that setbacks are part of the process, so stay flexible, learn from failures, and keep the bigger picture in mind. Surround yourself with a support system, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or feedback along the way!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My mother, Jennifer Williams, has been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop the skills I needed to be successful, both in life and with MsChriss BAKES. She’s always been my biggest supporter and mentor, and her influence has been woven into everything I do. Just knowing and seeing how much she believes in me pushes me to keep going every single day!

My mother has always believed in me, even during times when I’ve doubted myself. Whether I faced setbacks or tough moments in my business, she’s been there to remind me of my strength and potential. Her unwavering belief in me gives me the confidence to keep pushing forward. She has always emphasized the importance of resilience. She taught me that setbacks are temporary and part of any journey I embark on. Watching her handle life’s challenges with grace gives me real-world examples of patience and perseverance. These are qualities that have helped me stay committed to my goals, even when things don’t go as planned.

From a young age, I watched my mother approach everything she did with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. So much so, I always tell her that the details running through mind never shut off because of her and we laugh. She instilled in me the importance of doing things the right way, not just the easy way. This has influenced how I run MsChriss BAKES. I’m committed to high-quality products and service, even when it requires extra effort.

Lastly, she always encourages me to keep learning. She tells me to keep learning about baking, running a business, and balancing my responsibilities. Her wisdom, love, and encouragement have been the foundation of who I am and my success. I owe everything to her influence and the lessons she’s imparted to me over the years!
