Meet Christen Reed

We were lucky to catch up with Christen Reed recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Christen , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
As cliche as it sounds, I think I developed my ability to take risks by putting in the work. The more I focused and crafted my skills and gifts, it became easier to trust myself and my ability, so to take risks became less of a risk because of the repetitive reinforcement and confidence I built in myself. And also just after taking a few risks and having them pay off in my favor also helps build confidence as well too

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Im a rapper/ musical artist. I feel what the most exciting or special thing about it is seeing the variety of people from different races, ethnicities, regions, etc love, relate and connect with my music. I think that in itself gives music in general, and specifically my music a varying significance because of the way it can craft, mold, help, heal and change some one’s life. And approaching each musical track like that with the thought process that I have the ability to change lives with what I create has driven me to higher levels than I’ve reached before. And that’s why I’m super excited about my new west Project Losers/Lovers. It’s a story from track to track and a story in whole that describes the processes and stages of finding love and losing love and everything in between. I feel it’s true and authentic to myself and what those feelings are and have been but also relatable for many because everyone loves, and everyone has lost love as well. And it can be in romantic nature or platonically, etc.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think one of the most important if not the utmost important, is being determined/ resilient. Never quitting, and I mean truly never quitting and refusing to be denied and give in is a trait that will take you to your cowling and even past it. Because when you won’t quit and refuse to give up, give in and fail, you’ll do anything to make whatever it is you want to come to fruition and that will drive you to develop your skills, gifts, crafts and adapt in ways that will make you successful. Either conventionally or in your own right or both. Second, I would say is being creative. In any business or craft, etc, being creative helps you be adaptable and find different ways to accomplish things better or more efficiently in a way that will captivate who needs to be captivated for you to succeed. Creativity leads to innovation and innovation in this time and age with social media trend based focuses, are a big key aspect to initially developing audiences. 3rd, I would say networking. Assuming you want to take whatever you’re doing to the highest level, who you know and why you’re connected too can take you to your end goal a lot faster and easier than if you have no connections at all. It can save time and money but also save you from detrimental mistakes many make because you have connections to knowledge and resources that may guide you and advise you in better ways to do things.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I think my biggest growth in the past year has fursure been the comfortability in being a presence to those who chose to be my fans. I’ve always been introverted and more so keeping to myself and chillin in the background so having thousands wanting to see and know me more at first was a struggle but as the time went on and I practiced showing more of me and my life, it’s gotten a lot easier and my fam base as grown along with it
