Meet Christi Ahl

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christi Ahl. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christi below.

Christi, so great to have you on the platform and excited to have you share your wisdom with our community today. Communication skills often play a powerful role in our ability to be effective and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your communication skills.

Communicating effectively hasn’t always come easy for me. Growing up in a household with a parent with addictions makes it very challenging to learn to communicate. My father was an alcoholic and drug addict. In our house I never knew what kind of mood he would be in; loving, angry, depressed, chill, partying, etc. It was up to my mom and I to learn to read him and the room to decide how we would approach and interact with him.

I knew instinctively her way of trying to communicate wasn’t working with him. As I got older much of my communication skills mimicked my mom’s; never too loud, too excited, too happy, too sad, too anything for that matter. For many years I carried on that way of communicating. I would constantly assess a person and behave and communicate based completely on them. Never regarding how I felt, what I wanted to say, or what I wanted to do. It was a terrible way of being.

Even in high school I had difficulty truly saying how I felt to my friends and boyfriend. My usual modis operandi was to shut down, being silent seemed to be the better choice for many years rather than conflict. It wasn’t until my early to mid 20’s when I began to discover my voice and my desires. What I wanted to do, what I wanted to say were coming to the surface more and more as I joined White Dragon Martial Arts and then became an instructor. I HAD to learn to communicate better, to instruct clearly, concisely, all while being attentive, motivational and giving corrections and encouragement when warranted. It was a process that wasn’t easy. But I grew, learned, and continued to hone my way of communicating. It wasn’t only while teaching but outside of the school in my personal and professional life.

With each position I acquired, I improved. Now, 25 years later as an intuition development coach, speaker, and best selling author I have found my voice and do my best to consistently communicate as effectively as possible. Don’t get me wrong. I still have my moments when I feel like holding my tongue based on the circumstances. However, this is far less often and usually warranted in the situation. Now I teach others how to communicate effectively with the public when they are giving readings, speaking, teaching or in their daily lives.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have a HUGE passion to support BIPOC, queer, women healers, readers and alternative medicine practitioners who are under recognized, under served and valued and suffer from imposter syndrome, stinking thinking, have periods of lack of confidence, clarity and consistency.

As a Intuition Development Coach, I am dedicated to helping women entrepreneurs eliminate self-doubt and self-sabotage to make confident, clear, and consistent decisions to grow their business. The problem I solve is to assist many entrepreneurs who are stuck in second guessing themselves and their endless external expectations. You will walk away with new confidence and know how to unlock the power of your internal GPS, your intuition, so that you are unburdened of being pulled in too many directions, lack of self-worth and deafening mind chatter.

All this is to assist you in achieving your personal and professional goals. Through my group coaching program, I will work with you to identify your strengths, overcome obstacles, and create a plan for success.

My most recent project is near and dear to my heart. I have created, “Calling You Home a Scotland Oracle Deck”. It will be released the weekend of the 38th Annual Tucson Celtic Festival & Highland Games, November 1-3. I have traveled to Scotland and Ireland and absolutely adore both countries. So much so that my next endeavor is as a travel agent. By becoming a travel agent I now have the ability to pair my metaphysical background with my love of these countries. I will be creating a one of a kind, unique package to the sacred sites in Scotland and Ireland. Included will be many stone circles that are believed to be historical, mystical, and magical sites of many generations past. All of this with an opportunity to meet their ancestral lands.

To purchase a deck once released please go to https://www.christiahl.com and for future travel visit https://www.evotravelagent.com/christiahltravel

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Patience: It is key to remember that although we want to grow and learn at a lightening pace this isn’t always the case. Development effective communication as well as your intuition doesn’t happen overnight. Having patience as you learn, and understand both may be something new to you give yourself grace and try not to compare your journey to anyone else’s. You are unique and so is the path you are on.

Perseverance: Never give up. Setbacks are normal. They are moments of potential growth not failure. Keep going follow your passion and know that no matter your pace you can be a wonderful communicator if you stay consistent and persevere.

Self Worth: Self worth and self esteem are often confused. Self esteem is are usual measuring stick for growth and whether or not we are deserving of what we work for. However, as humans we often are quicker to discredit ourselves and convince ourselves we didn’t do enough, work hard enough, communicate, listen, strive enough or reach our goal. With the understanding that we are all worthy just by being born; it becomes less about if we earned something and more about passion, and internal drive.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

My hugest challenge lately has been my health. Most people have a misconception that all healers are healed. That couldn’t be further from the true. We are healing, seeking many different avenues to best serve our physical wellbeing so that we can continue to do the work that we are so passionate about. I have recently been diagnosed with several chronic illnesses including Fibromyalgia, hEDS, P.O.T.S (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia) and Celiac. All of these combined would send anyone into a tailspin of depression, self pity, anxiety and loss of interest in life.

However, I know I’m here to do a job. The job my soul was created to do. This is to tell my story, share my skills, knowledge and experiences. By doing this I endeavor to reach others so they don’t have to suffer, live in fear of their gifts and guide them on their journey to self worth, and living a spirit guided life.

As you know so much goes into caring for our human bodies. Our bodies are so vulnerable. I do my best each day to listen quietly to what my body needs. Whether it’s rest, food, movement, grace, patience, or laughter and joy. Secondly, and this can be the biggest challenge is to take purposeful action based on what my body needs. Strong willed, driven individuals like myself often over do it or push through these needs telling myself “but I need too…” No! The need is to listen, give myself grace and do what I can, each day. That is all.
