Meet Christian Fulks

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christian Fulks. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christian below.

Hi Christian, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I overcome imposter syndrome by believing that it’s something everyone is going to feel in my position. There are so many people that I’m inspired by, so believing that they felt the same way that I do, and then proving themselves wrong and showing why they’re worth being where they are, it helps me accept myself and see myself following their footsteps.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I became more involved in filmmaking in 2021 and got my first taste of directing back in October for a film project I co-wrote. After graduating college, I want to be somewhat more busy creating. I had to take a break from screenwriting and filmmaking, so now I’m interested in getting back into what I enjoy. Besides filmmaking, I’ve also been more eager to get into content creation on TikTok and soon YouTube, and I’d love to be able to find a way to insert music and fashion into them. The newest thing that I’ve been trying out is learning how to DJ and mix music and I’m just waiting to get good enough to show to the world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think growing up using the Internet since a kid helped me see so many different sides of creativity and connect with different creators that helped give me an insight into my interests. I did start learning about filmmaking in high school when I chose to take an audio/visual class, which was my small headstart in knowing the basics before knowing it’s what I wanted to do. Unlike some other filmmakers I’ve talked to, I’ve been interested in understanding and trying out most of every main crew role on set because I knew that if I wanted filmmaking to be a main career for me, I would have to truly be passionate about knowing how it all works instead of focusing on just writing or directing. My advice to people would be to study their interests to fully understand what they like and the different parts that come into play, because not only will you appreciate the experience, but so will everyone else after seeing how passionate you are.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

My number one challenge right now is having so many ideas for what I can do or what kind of content I can make, but not being able to get past having the idea and actually doing it. I can get so many ideas about different projects, but a lot of them haven’t been able to make it out of the notes app because a lack of motivation can get in my way. To try and overcome it, I force myself to get the motivation to act while telling myself that no one else can do it besides me and trying to keep being optimistic about my ideas throughout every step of the process.
