We were lucky to catch up with Christian Jacobs recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Christian with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My family. Specifically my grandfather, aunt and uncle. My grandfather was a planner and always instilled in his kids to get their education and work hard for what they want in life. They instilled this in my generation; however, raising a generation whose upbringing was technology, the internet/ social media, access to work and information were relatively easy. My generation became more lax. Crazy as this may sound, I did not want that for myself. I wanted to be different, stand out, independently on my own. In life itself, I knew there would be challenges, so I never wanted to get to a place where I was comfortable getting things handed to me. I had to work hard for what I want. I want to continue to grow in all areas of my life. Shortly after moving to Dallas, I was guided by aunt and my uncle. They sat me down and we created a plan together that would guide me into accomplishing my goals, leading me to success. It was a humbling experience that I will forever cherish. With the influence of my grandfather’s legacy, these two kind individuals believed enough in me and guided me to building a strong work ethic. They gave me enough grace and love to learn from my own mistakes. In the end, it was up to me on how I received it and put it to action. The reward in the end is never what I get, rather, all the knowledge, wisdom and understanding I have gained. When challenges come, I have a better understanding of how to humbly appreciate the process and rely on God, faith and my work ethic to see the fruits of my labor! Granted, there were times I could have made myself a victim, but I would envision my aunts voice, telling me how my grandfather would encourage her to keep going no matter what; “You got this”! It was a simple message and a quick pick me up to encourage myself to keep pressing forward! Everything I want out of this life is up to me! I got this!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I do makeup, photography and soon to release my podcast! I’ve always enjoyed learning from others and seeing others radiate with happiness, confidence or even a simple smile after any encounter with me! I am a true believer we all can learn from each other without judgment. I am excited to soon release my segments of my podcast, Cocktails with Christian! We talk about variety of subjects such as lifestyle, relationships, travel, food etc! I remain open-minded, excited to share this project!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Honesty, forgiveness and growth have been areas of knowledge most impactful on my journey. There’s always room for improvement! Just do it gently along your way. Do not rush into things! Take it a day, a thought, a test and trial at a time. The right time will happen, when it happens. Just continue to keep pressing forward!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My aunt and my uncle! There know who they are! I notice more in my adulthood seeking advice from them and reminding myself everything they have taught me! I’ve been foolish before, don’t get me wrong, I don’t always get it right but you learn from your mistakes. Forgive yourself, plan it out and work towards your success plan. Leave your mistakes in the past and continue to look ahead. The best is yet to come!
