Meet Christian Ridout

We recently connected with Christian Ridout and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My parents taught me at a very young age that failing and making mistakes is ok. In order to succeed you first need to fail and working through mistakes and failures is what makes us better at what we do. The more mistakes I make, the closer I am to success. Learning through failure has made me a more confident person

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Our motto at Blind Barrels is ‘We are on a mission to find the best craft whiskey America has to offer’. At Blind Barrels we have a wonderful whiskey community of members who are on a whiskey journey and learning about the unique craft whiskies that exist all over the United States. As one of our whiskey curators or ‘Whiskey Wizards I have the wonderful job of scouring the US to find small craft distilleries that many whiskey enthusiasts have never heard of. We have an opportunity to introduce many whiskey fans to small distilleries and share their story.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

As a whiskey curator at Blind Barrels, our members trust our process in finding great whiskey distilleries in the US. Part of this process is reaching out to distilleries, learning about their story and process of making whiskey. We try hundreds of samples of whiskey each year and we have to trust our palates in the process to find great whiskey. We are constantly testing our taste buds, refining our palates so we can separate the great whiskies from the good & bad whiskey. Its a process we take very seriously and work hard to make sure that our taste buds are in tip top shape.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

We have found that the whiskey community is very collaborative and supportive of each other. The success of Blind Barrels hinges on working with others in this small, tight knit community. Our founder & CEO, Bobby Demars has been a real leader in reaching out and connecting with all aspects of the whiskey community, from the distilleries themselves to distributors, bar & restaurant owners as well as influencers in the whiskey world. We welcome the opportunity to connect with anyone in the whiskey world that is looking to grow and spread the love of whiskey.
