We were lucky to catch up with Christian Walker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christian, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Honest answer, its still something I struggle with at times, but learning to love the different layers of the person I am helped me a lot with my confidence and self-esteem. Practicing self love with affirmations, being able to handle those vulnerable moments alone and learning to address them and push through them when I need. Chile life ain’t easy but it helps when you’re actively loving you for who you were, who you are, and who you will be.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello Everyone I am Christian J. Walker A dancer & choreographer located in Jacksonville, Fl. Just to tap on me and what I do, I’ve taught heels classes since the fall of 2020, i’ve gotten to choreograph for artist, travel to perform in front of thousands people. As of right now i’m teaching pop ups here and there, creating projects, but also I’ve partnered with some amazing creators located in the city as “The Collective” (Alexis Gay, Adriané Tate, Jannel Hill, Da’ Bland) to make a change in the community with Dance and arts. Its been a great experience thus far and I can’t wait to see where we take things.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Honestly the most impactful moments on my journey is being able to train under people that have done what i’m doing for years and getting insight, advice, etc from them. The advice I’d give to anyone wanting to do anything, always remember to treat your goals with love and care, and to give yourself grace. Often times we push ourselves really hard and can come down ourselves just as hard, haha take your time with yourself on your journey because yours won’t look like anyone else’s.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Alchemist, whew man that is a book I can read over and over again and i’ll gain something different each time. It’s taught me so much about appreciation of the process and journey you’re on. I get so focused on the outcome that I sometimes forget to pay attention to what I picked up along the way.
