We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christie & Raquel Delly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christie & Raquel below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Christie & Raquel with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Raquel and Christie’s work ethic didn’t develop overnight. It was shaped by a life filled with both privilege and hardship, each experience teaching them valuable lessons. Growing up, they were surrounded by the hard work and determination of their family. Their dad owned multiple businesses, and their grandparents, who had immigrated from Iraq, also ran their own successful businesses. They were exposed to the importance of hustle and resilience from a young age, which laid the foundation for their own careers.
Raquel started working at 15, diving into the wireless industry. It wasn’t just a job—it was the beginning of her journey into customer service, where she learned the art of connecting with people and the importance of communication. As she transitioned into real estate in 2015, she took those lessons and built a thriving business. The experiences from her early years taught her that success required constant effort, and that nothing is guaranteed.
Christie, too, was no stranger to hard work. She spent her life in customer service and received her real estate license in 2021. Within a short time, she fully embraced her career as a full-time realtor. When she partnered with Raquel to form Property Sisters of Michigan, their shared work ethic and drive became the cornerstone of their success.
But life had a way of teaching them even deeper lessons. In 2008, the economy crashed, and their family faced a whirlwind of change, including their parents’ divorce. They lost a lot, but gained so much in understanding what truly matters. They learned that life is unpredictable—nothing is guaranteed. This realization fueled their desire to not only work for success but to be consistent, knowing that as quickly as things can be given, they can also be taken away.
Their work ethic didn’t just come from external circumstances, though. Raquel and Christie have always understood the importance of working on themselves from the inside out. They continue to invest in personal growth and coaching, realizing that the right mindset is crucial to maintaining success. The challenges they’ve faced have only sharpened their determination.
What drives them is simple: their desire to create a life of happiness for themselves and their loved ones, to succeed, and to give back to their community. Their journey has been full of learning, growth, and resilience, and they are committed to helping others climb the ladder, just as they’ve received a hand up along their own path. The Property Sisters of Michigan is not just a business—it’s a reflection of the hard work, the dedication, and the lessons that have shaped them into who they are today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Our focus at Property Sisters of Michigan is to provide an elevated real estate experience by prioritizing our clients’ goals, guiding them with honesty, and ensuring their transactions are as smooth and stress-free as possible. But beyond real estate, we’re passionate about personal growth and inspiring others to chase their dreams. We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received along the way and are looking forward to what’s next for Property Sisters of Michigan!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, there are three key qualities that have been instrumental in our journey: resilience, communication, and mindset.
Resilience: Life has a way of throwing challenges our way, and the ability to bounce back and keep going has been a huge factor in our success. From the early days of our family facing the recession to navigating our personal and professional growth, resilience has helped us stay focused on our goals, even when things were uncertain. To those early in their journey, we recommend embracing failure as part of the process. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, adjust, and keep moving forward. Developing resilience comes from pushing through adversity and viewing challenges as stepping stones rather than obstacles.
Communication: In our early customer service roles and throughout our real estate careers, we learned that clear and honest communication is the foundation of any successful relationship, whether with clients, partners, or within our family. Being able to listen actively and express ourselves effectively has allowed us to build trust and rapport, which are essential in both business and personal life. For those just starting out, we encourage you to invest time in refining your communication skills. Take the time to truly listen, be clear in your messages, and always aim for transparency. This will set you apart in any field.
Mindset: We quickly realized that our success was deeply tied to our mindset. We had to develop a mindset of growth, where we were open to learning, adapting, and pushing beyond our comfort zones. This has been critical not only in business but in life overall. Having the right mindset allowed us to navigate uncertainty, take risks, and continually invest in ourselves. For those early in their journey, work on developing a growth mindset. Read books, attend seminars, find mentors, and do whatever it takes to shift your thinking to one that sees opportunities instead of limitations. The right mindset will keep you motivated and focused on your long-term vision, even when challenges arise.
Our advice for those starting out would be to build a strong foundation of resilience, communication, and mindset. Develop these qualities every day, and they will serve you in ways you can’t yet imagine. Success is a journey, and the more you invest in yourself, the more you’ll be equipped to handle anything that comes your way.
