We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christina Brittos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christina below.
Christina, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I have a wonderful support system: my husband, my church community, family and friends.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My husband, Juan and I own Platinum Bucket Junk Removal. We started our business in 2021 with a pickup truck and a dream, to be our own boss and have the freedom to make a living on our own terms. Juan and I have always been free spirits and work our best, and hardest when someone else isn’t constantly breathing down our neck, telling us what to do. We met in 2011 at a mutual friend’s house, and traveled and made a home in Texas later that year. As hard rock music lovers, we started a band and spent 7 years in DFW playing music, doing small tours around the south and midwest, and played a few festivals.
In 2019 we moved back to Orange County and worked in the fitness industry, while still perusing our band part time.
During the pandemic in 2020 we started to look into other avenues to make a living due to the constant shut downs and uncertainty in the fitness industry. We wanted to do something that helped people and incorporated our active lifestyle.
In 2021 Platinum Bucket Junk Removal was born. The name was inspired by the cleaning company, my husbands parents had owned for many years, The Golden Mop. After 2 years working our business with 2 pickup trucks, we upgraded to our dump trailer in November 2023, and business began to explode.
Most of our business comes from word of mouth, and referrals and we are so grateful to have grown a brand that people trust. Platinum Bucket is much more than a junk removal service! We treat you like family. We bring something personal to an impersonal industry and we loving creating relationships with so many wonderful people in our community.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important qualities and skills relevant to our industry is customer service/communication, knowledge of proper lifting/avoiding injuries, and Adaptability. Communication I would say is the number one important skill because if you don’t care about your clients, and don’t know how to talk to and communicate with different types of people, you will miss out on a lot of referrals and people are less likely to use your service again. Knowing how to lift properly or what equipment can make the job easier is important to avoid injury. And adaptability is important because not everything that’s worked before will always work, and knowing how to adapt to different circumstances will ensure that you can always get the job done, or get new clients and keep progressing your business.
My best advice for people early in their journey is to always be open to learning about whatever industry you are in and prioritize building and maintaining relationships, improving customer service, and good communication.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, my biggest strength is my ability to talk about it. Talking about whatever is on my mind always helps clear my head so I can find solutions or just feel more at peace. Whether that’s talking to God, my husband, or my church family, my support system means everything to me and Platinum Bucket wouldn’t be where it is today without the love and support from all the incredible people in our lives.
