We recently connected with Christina Decker and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I don’t think there was one specific moment when I “found” my purpose. It’s been a culmination of all the roles I’ve had and my experiences in life, both personally and professionally. Over time, I started to see a common thread. Simply put, I love using what I know and what I’ve learned over the years to help others find, realign with, or amplify their purpose. That’s when I feel I’m most in alignment and fulfilling my own purpose. I’ve often thought I should change my job description to “realignment specialist”! Haha!
I’ve never believed purpose is a job or a title. To me, it’s more like a frequency and a way of being that I try to authentically bring into every day. It has always shown up clearly when I’m living in alignment, enabling me to pivot or evolve as needed. When I’m really tuned in, my intuition flows, and I find myself naturally able to guide others. I hear what’s said and unsaid. Then, I help connect the dots in a way that brings people closer to what they are looking for.
Whether it’s when I’m managing, strategizing, writing, or editing, it’s the same. I practice living my purpose by offering guidance, bringing clarity, and encouraging growth in others and in myself. I used to think I just enjoyed being helpful, supporting people, and making their ideas feel seen. But it’s actually deeper than that. It’s about helping people believe in themselves.
Even through my writing, I’ve realized that sharing my own insights or stories can help others see something differently or even validate what they already feel or know. Sometimes we need a mirror, or just a new angle, to remember what’s been there all along.
That’s the beauty of true purpose. When you live in alignment with your own, you can directly and indirectly help others realign with theirs. And in doing that, you both expand.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been running my own businesses for 28 years, always weaving writing and editing into everything I do. As the founder of Decktout Creative Consulting, I help individuals and brands define their voice, tell their story, and build strategies that align with their vision. My work includes brand strategy, ghostwriting, social media support, newsletter curation, influencer partnerships, and even the role of executive producer for a client’s podcast, The Cult of Flair.
One of the things I love most is customizing my approach to individual client needs – whether I’m helping an influencer grow their brand or guiding an established business through strategic growth. I bring an entrepreneurial mindset and broad industry experience to everything I do.
This year, I am focusing on carving out space to share more of my own writing on Substack, while continuing to support clients in bringing their visions to life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three things that shaped my journey most weren’t necessarily things I was ever directly taught; they are internal qualities.
Intuition:
For a long time, I didn’t realize that my ability to read between the lines to clearly see a person’s challenges, strengths, or the path forward before they could even articulate it themselves was a gift. I thought everyone worked that way. But, over time, I’ve learned to trust that intuition, build on it, and use it as the foundation of my work. I go on gut instinct a lot. And, it’s never let me down.
My advice: Don’t write off your instincts as just a feeling. Document what you notice. Reflect on the times you were right and lean in to listen to your inner guidance.
Authenticity:
Whether I’m working with a client or sharing something personal, the biggest shifts in my work have always come from showing up as I am, even when I’m still figuring things out. I’m self-taught in many areas and live by the motto: I can figure anything out. Letting go of the need to be perfect or have all the answers before starting has been one of the biggest things I’ve learned (and I am still very much a work in progress in this area!). But the moment I release that pressure, things start to flow. Aligned opportunities and people begin to show up, often in ways that are so serendipitous and magical.
My advice: Don’t wait until you’re ready or know everything. Start where you are, be honest about where you are, and be confident you can get to where you need to be.
Resilience:
I’ve never been afraid to redefine my career path when something no longer feels aligned. I’ve pivoted, restructured, and evolved roles I’ve outgrown. I’ve visualized and reimagined my career more times than I can count. The most impactful growth comes when I don’t stay stagnant in misalignment for too long. I get clear on what I want next – sometimes just by naming it in my mind or speaking it out loud to someone else, and then I do my best to initiate aligned action in that direction – however that may look. Usually, it’s baby steps till momentum builds on its own.
My advice: Don’t cling to a version of yourself just because you think it’s easier. There is no growth in comfort. Keep checking in. Is there something better for you? What’s holding you back? I love free-flow journaling to get clear on what I want next.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Reading The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle, was a turning point for me. I read it back in 2004, and it shifted everything. It taught me how to come back to the present moment over and over again – almost like a living, ongoing meditation. That book’s message has stayed with me ever since. Whether I’m in a conversation, navigating challenges, or just moving through a basic day, I’ve learned how to pause, observe, and reconnect with where I am right now, in this exact moment. This practice has shaped not just my personal growth, but the way I show up in my work and all aspects of my life. Some days, though, it’s easier to access than others….
