Meet Christina Luna

We were lucky to catch up with Christina Luna recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Through a series of unexpected life events and the influence of the people who raised me, including my single mom, grandparents, and music teacher, my purpose found me. The values of determination and compassion instilled in me gently nudged me towards the discovery process of my unique gifts and towards meaningful work in the community I am a part of.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Christina Luna, and my entrepreneurial journey spans over two decades. As a proud native of San Francisco, I began my career managing entertainment for local festivals such as Fiesta Filipina, Chinese New Year Festival & Parade, Cherry Blossom Festival, San Mateo County Fair at multicultural event agency, Prime Image Media Group. These early experiences ignited my passion for championing diverse voices and cultures within the entertainment landscape.

Recognizing a need for representation and a gap between Filipino and American music industries, I founded my own company dedicated to representing Filipino American music artists and facilitating cross-cultural exchanges on both sides of the globe. Having been immersed for many years in a dynamic industry and observing the funding needs of this particular community, I began exploring angel investing—utilizing my expertise, networks, and desire to support aspiring creative entrepreneurs and ventures.

To further my exploration, gratefully I was recently selected and completed Backstage Catalyst, a revolutionary investor apprenticeship program by Backstage Capital that empowers underestimated individuals and allies to becomes the next generation of influential investors.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have consistently shown up along the way for me are: authenticity, responsibility, and faith. Being authentic to the community around you and more importantly to yourself, can empower you to lead others in meaningful way. Understanding what responsibility means to you and what it means to those around you, will create a team environment that amplifies the very best of each person. Having faith with lift you through your greatest moments and also transform the most challenging moments into great ones.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Over time just like my to do lists, my list of goals keeps on growing. After some reflection, I narrowed them down to just a few key priorities. Going through this helped me fully understand my strengths and weaknesses, and when that was coupled with focused goals it immediately created meaningful growth in every part of my life I haven’t experienced before.
