Meet Christina Ramos

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christina Ramos. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Christina , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
From my heritage. I am born in Spain, we are known to be stubborn and perseverant. I also come from a hard working family.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been tattooing for 15 years and painting consistently for 7 years. I’ve been known to do many styles in an industry where other tattooers just specialize in one thing. I can’t imagine doing anything else at this point in my life. I love doing custom large pieces, it’s always exciting when you are found by a client who is willing to trust me with their project, weather is a whole sleeve or a back piece.
I currently work out of two studios in LA county. Memoir Tattoo I’m West Hollywood and Somatic tattoo in Long Beach.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I was obsessed with drawing as a child. In a way I wish I could tell my younger self that I am gonna be able to make a living out of my favorite activity. Drawing has always felt like second nature. Getting an apprenticeship opened the door to be on part of this great community but it’s not enough, you have to be hungry for improvement. The learning never stops. I’m never satisfied, I’m always seeking to level up. And you doing by connecting and honoring the old, while embracing the new.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I always tried to surround myself with great artists that I admire and respect. I’ve been lucky to have some of them as coworkers. But also, you never know who you can learn something from. You have to find the balance between taking everything with a grain of salt and at the same time have an open mind and putting your ego aside.
