We were lucky to catch up with Christine Piper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christine , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
have to say my work ethic comes from the sport of swimming. I grew up swimming competitively and then went on to swim in college. The strict training schedule has given me the discipline to consistenly show up to early bake days, manage effectively, and get everything done in a timely manner. Swimming has also given me perseverance to overcome any obstacles that come my way, accountability, and extreme dedication.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Christine and I am the founder of Rise & Shine! Rise & Shine is a bakery that offers gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free baked goods that make you feel like sunshine!!
I started Rise and Shine during covid as a little joy project to make people feel loved! For everyone’s birthday I would create their favorite dessert but put my twist on it, making everything gluten free & nutrient dense.
That led to family & friends inspiring me to create Rise and Shine! & here we are today!
My intention behind Rise and Shine is to create treats that everyone can enjoy & that nourish the body, soul, & the planet!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Time management, consistency, and discipline. Establish a routine and stick to it. Create a daily schedule that allocates specific time blocks for different tasks. I love to backwards plan. What that looks like is every night I plan out the following day. Seeing if I have to wake up earlier to go for my daily run or move some things around to deliver or pick up inventory items.
Keep showing up day in and day out!
The advice I have is to always believe in yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to. Keep creating, have a mindset that is adaptable and willing to take risks. Have fun!!
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
A book that has played a big role in my creative process and that I alway come back to is The Artisan Soul by Erwin McManus. I love how he explains we are all are artists crafting a beautiful masterpiece in the way we live and do. He emphasizes how we all have something beautiful, good, and true to bring to this world and that is a main goal with Rise and Shine Bakery.
Always live with passion and purpose in pursuing your dreams and aspirations, embrace the journey, and courageously pursue risk taking and growth.
“The artisan soul moves toward purity of ingredients, understands the power of simplicity, makes life a craft and not a product, and treats people as unique individuals rather than commodities.”
