Meet Christine Scroggins

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christine Scroggins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Christine, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Definitely from my dad Mr. Aaron Scroggins! He was truly one of a kind; a hustler and a gentleman. He would also pop yo ass if he had to! My dad married my mom in March 1972. He took care of my mom and his daughters so well that her own family became jealous of her. He owned acres of land in Stockton, CA so he turned it into a scrap yard. My dad would work from morning till night and did some hustling on the side.
After watching him for years my mom got a few paper routes and I began working at 9 years old. I was so focused on trying to make money that school didn’t matter to me. I would fake sick in a heartbeat but my older sister Sheila would call me out on it! She’s the middle child and a Gemini so I forgive her (lol). I’m just playing she just wanted what was best for me. I didn’t understand that at the time, but I do now!

Unfortunately my mom and dad divorced when I was very young and you guessed it, the main reason was because of her jealous ass family! See, my mom didn’t want to accept the fact that her family didn’t have her best interest, but that’s a whole other story.

My dad still continued to work hard and took care of his children, even the ones that didn’t live with him. Unfortunately, my dad passed away when I was 13. He was on his death bed talking about going back to work and making more money, two of my older sisters just looked at each other like, ‘is he for real’!

To be 100, I always wanted to fill his shoes but it is a hell of a lot to fill; but I think I’m doing a great job. I know for a fact, if he could see me now, he would be proud of his baby girl.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the owner and radio host of JMO Radio Show based out of Las Vegas,NV. I play nothing but independent artists 24/7. I interview anybody with a story to tell as long as they keep it real.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Staying true to myself, staying focused and keeping God first, that’s what I did and will always do that until my death date. My advice to others is to stay true to yourself as well don’t allow anyone to take you off your game.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
