Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christine Vonrobarie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christine, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing confidence and self-esteem took time. I found my confidence in 2023 while shooting my first feature film, “Peninsula Nights,” and experienced a significant boost in my self-esteem throughout 2024, surprisingly thanks to social media. I had wanted to start posting on social media for a long time but never had the courage. Then, I realized that if I wanted to build a name for myself and find acting representation, I needed a strong social media presence. However, I was terrified of my family and friends seeing me, and I feared receiving negative comments from strangers. It’s interesting to reflect on how fear has been a recurring feeling throughout my journey, and how not allowing it to become an obstacle has opened up a world of amazing experiences.
Eventually, I built up the courage to post my first reel on my social media platforms in July 2024, and the response was surprisingly positive. It felt amazing. The kindness and support I’ve received have been incredible. This kindness has given me so much confidence in content creation, and I’ve been posting consistently ever since. In fact, companies have reached out to me for social media collaborations, which has solidified the amazing experience I’ve had throughout this journey. Social media has also helped me significantly in my acting endeavors, as I now find comfort in having a camera on me every day while filming content. Acting and social media have truly become my safe space.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to California in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. My heritage, deeply rooted in both Puerto Rican and Spanish (Canary Islander) ancestry, and has played a significant role in shaping my identity and artistry.
Since moving to California, I have embraced my journey as an actress and content creator, driven by my love for film and storytelling. Truly, I’m living my American Dream, and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful for the opportunities that both the United States and my loved ones have given me.
My professional journey was solidified with my role in “Peninsula Nights,” my first feature film, which is now available on Amazon Prime. Since then, I’ve continued pursuing acting opportunities with dedication. The same goes for my social media journey. My social media platforms, particularly Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, have become a safe space where I can authentically express myself. I never imagined that posting content online would lead to such a kind positive response, but it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. It is safe to say that the most exciting part of what I do is connecting with people through my work, whether on screen or via social media.
Overall, I’m deeply committed to continuing my work in the acting industry, engaging with others, and building a brand that resonates with people who share my passion for acting, and self-expression. The future feels incredibly promising, and I’m excited to see where this journey leads!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, courage, and a willingness to learn. Resilience has helped me persevere through challenges, courage has allowed me to take risks, and a passion for learning has enabled me to grow along the way.
My advice for those just starting their journey is: never give up, take risks, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes or start from scratch. Keep moving forward, even when the road gets tough. Each step, whether big or small, brings you closer to where you want to be.
Also, stop worrying about what others may think or say. Today, people might think you’re crazy for pursuing your dreams, but be patient. Give people time to digest the new you, the one who is determined to follow your passions and not fit into a mold. Stay true to who you are, and in time, they’ll understand.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The number one obstacle I’m currently facing is finding a talent agent. The acting industry is highly competitive, with referral-based systems, a strong social media presence, relevant experience, and the demand for unique branding all playing pivotal roles. Despite these challenges, I feel more ready than ever to secure representation.
I firmly believe it only takes one, just one agent who recognizes in me what I see in myself. I trust myself enough to make such a bold statement because I know the hard work and dedication I bring to every opportunity. By keeping my social media platform open and continuing to work diligently in acting, I’m actively positioning myself for the right opportunity to come my way. I’m rooting for 2025 to be the year I finally achieve representation and take the next step in my acting career.
