Meet Christopher Booher

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christopher Booher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christopher below.

Christopher, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
The purpose of the Vanity house from the start had always been to create a safe place and a lasting presence for the LGBTQ+ in a major city that was seriously lacking in inclusivity. We began by brining regularly scheduled drag brunches to a community that was not always ready or open to it. By our 6th year of business we offer almost 4 shows a week any given week. The lasting Impact is seen in the individual stories of our guests who we often refer to as our vanity family. They are endless and heartwarming, People who come to celebrate life in so many ways are the reason we keep going and have found our continued purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
We are the Vanity house established 6 years ago as a small family idea to create a space and community for drag into everyday spaces here in Charlotte NC. Over the years we have built a regular audience and a full time business creating many jobs

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My early start in the entertainment industry has given me an advanced knowledge of showmanship and the standards it takes to create a long lasting entertainment venture. Along with our community goals, we believe in only the highest quality and standards of entertainment. I would recommend chose quality over quantity in all aspects of life, its pays off in the end.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Color purple has followed me throughout my life in many of the novels themes. The idea that there is always joy to be found, no matter how difficult your situation has resonated both personally and professionally. Our job is to create joy even on days when we ourselves may not be feeling that way and that is where we receive the most rewarding energy exchange from our guests who in turn give us back that joy
