Meet Christopher Bright

We recently connected with Christopher Bright and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic is fueled by raw, unfiltered passion. For a long time, I thought I was just going through the motions of adulthood, doing what I was supposed to do. Yet, my longstanding love for anime and video games was merely a reflection of pursuing happiness. It wasn’t until I experienced a pivotal moment in my journey with cannabis that everything changed. While working on a research project at community college (CCBC), I found myself immersed in reading, discovering a newfound enthusiasm that felt effortless. Though I didn’t recognize it as passion back then, everything shifted when I began working for Starbuds Baltimore. I realized my love for learning about cannabis – the compounds, the smells, the effects, the science – filled me with excitement! This led me to start the Enlightened Voice. Since then, it hasn’t felt like work; instead, it has become a joyful pursuit of knowledge, understanding, and challenging misconceptions. Do something you love, and it won’t feel like work.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As the creator and host of The Enlightened Voice, I’ve dedicated the last five years to passionately reviewing strains, cultivating a wealth of knowledge about their genetics—spanning smell, taste, appearance, and effects. What distinguishes me from other reviewers is my vibrant personality and in-depth analysis of genetics. Instead of simply labeling things as good or bad and telling viewers what to buy, I offer my personal insights while allowing my audience—the Insightful Voices—to make their own informed choices. My channel serves as a valuable information hub, where you come not for fleeting trends, but to explore the genetics of strains you’re considering. Informative yet entertaining is my guiding principle.

This commitment has inspired me to launch sub-segments like The Enlightened Minute, Marijuana Mayhem, and Host Talks, diversifying my content and connecting different sectors of the cannabis community. Exciting opportunities are on the horizon! I’ve recently joined Cannabis Coast to Coast News as their Maryland reporter, where I’ll share the most significant developments in the Maryland cannabis scene alongside other influencers on the Pro Cannabis Media YouTube page. Additionally, I’m collaborating with graphic designer Aiden McCord Amasis to unveil a design that embodies The Insightful Voices—something I’ve been eager to perfect. We’ll continue this partnership with more merchandise designs and a comprehensive website, so stay tuned!

Finally, I’m incredibly proud of my collective, comprising a diverse group of friends—growers, breeders, reviewers, and store owners—all working together to uplift one another in our shared mission. Together, we are stronger and ready to thrive.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

This is a complex question disguised as a simple one, and I appreciate it. The three most impactful qualities that have helped me so far are Knowledge, Consistency, and Tough Skin. Knowledge is the most crucial; know what you’re talking about! The quickest path to failure as an influencer or content creator is to lack expertise in your area. People will attempt to discredit your knowledge, so having concrete evidence or strong arguments is essential. Nay-sayers will always be present, no matter your efforts. Next is Consistency, the primary reason many content creators and influencers struggle. Regardless of life’s challenges, you must push forward; nothing worthwhile comes easy. Life offers many ups and downs, but perseverance is key. Numerous creators say, “I’ll take a break and come back,” yet most never return. Life is tough, and it’s about making time or letting go. Lastly, Tough Skin is vital—this one speaks for itself. Trolling and criticism will always exist. Stay true to yourself, embrace constructive feedback, and let the rest roll off your back.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

I really enjoy this question because it resonates deeply with my understanding of life. I believe in fully embracing your strengths, as they are synonymous with your passions. Everything I do is driven by passion. My desire to improve stems from this same energy! Passion is what propels you to excel beyond others. While being well-rounded promotes independence, there’s always someone out there who loves what you need to accomplish. For instance, I’ve become fairly proficient in video editing, but as soon as I can afford it, I will hire someone else to take over that task. Not just to lighten my load, but because that individual will thrive in their work. They will spot improvements where I might miss them, and for them, editing won’t feel like work, while I find it to be a laborious task.
