Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christopher Confero. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christopher, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I credit my work ethic to my grandparents, who raised me with a deep respect for doing things well and doing them with care. My grandmother worked as a housekeeper, and my grandfather was an ironworker. They didn’t preach about hard work; they modeled it. There was structure, pride, and purpose in everything they did, and I absorbed that without even realizing it. They showed me that excellence doesn’t require extravagance, just intention.
That mindset has stayed with me throughout my career. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty, whether I’m pressing linens, adjusting lighting, or hauling florals through the rain. But more than just showing up, I believe the real work is in the details, in listening well, and creating experiences that feel thoughtful and personal. To me, work ethic isn’t just about grinding – it’s about giving your best.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I design unforgettable experiences that blur the line between fantasy and real life. At Confero, we specialize in producing high-touch weddings, immersive brand moments, and visually striking celebrations that feel like theatre. To me, an event should unfold like a great show: thoughtful pacing, emotional highs, and an unforgettable finale. I work closely with my clients to understand how they live, love, and entertain, then translate that into a celebration that reflects their story. Every detail matters, from straightening every chair to the mood the lighting sets on the dance floor. What excites me most is creating moments that make people forget the outside world and simply feel uninhibited. I’m a creative at heart, but I also value precision and flow. Confero isn’t about trends. It’s about timeless design, meaningful hospitality, and just throwing a really great party. Simple as that.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful forces in my journey have been imagination, emotional intelligence, and resourcefulness. Imagination is the heart of creativity—it’s how I walk into a blank ballroom or an empty field and see the final frame in my mind. For anyone starting out, nurture that sense of play. Let yourself dream without limits, then find ways to bring it to life with intention and clarity.
Emotional intelligence has been just as important. This is a relationship-driven business. Learn to read the room, listen deeply, and lead with empathy. People won’t always remember the flowers, but they will remember how you made them feel.
And finally, resourcefulness. Be the person who figures it out. Early on, I didn’t have a big team or budget—but I had vision and grit. Lean into both. There’s always a way to make magic, even when conditions aren’t perfect.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
A book that deeply resonated with me is Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. It put language to something I’ve always believed—that excellence isn’t just about what you deliver, it’s how you make people feel in the process. The idea of going above and beyond in wildly thoughtful ways isn’t just good service—it’s a love language. It reminded me that hospitality is not a department; it’s a mindset.
One of the most impactful lessons from the book is the idea of creating “surprise and delight” moments that are deeply personal. That’s something I’ve always tried to infuse into my events, whether it’s a late-night treat passed out on the dance floor or the way a room feels when you first walk in. It’s not about extravagance. It’s about care. The book gave me permission to lean in harder, to make things more special, and to never apologize for leading with purpose.
