We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christopher Favela. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christopher below.
Hi Christopher , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
The way that I developed my ability to take risk was that I was in a situation in my life that I was not where I wanted to be. I knew I what I wanted, that was to have a better life for myself and my family. That better life would include better education, Businesses, big house and a lot of vacations. Most have not happened but, it is a step closer to where I want to be. If I had not taken the risk to start our business because of doubt, fear, and hearsay I would be in the same position of only dreaming of a better life. It was a bold move to journey into the unknown. Very little experience in managing a business, operating system, Managing staff, inventory, etc. My life situation has made my ability to take risk a lot higher. Playing it safe was not taking me where I wanted to be in life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Christopher Favela, I am a Co-CEO of Antojitos Mi Sinaloa. We are based out of Chula Vista, we are focused on Premium snack Carts and Catering. I love attending people and creating a variety of snacks and food that people will enjoy. Most of our product is a home made recipe, which makes it more significant that people can try and love our product. People really Love our Home made chamoy, it has really made an uproar within all of our customer that makes me want to brand it and sell it because it is always asked for! It is really exciting to be able to connect with people via food and our service. We have surpassed our own expectations on what we have accomplished as a starting company. We recently were named Caterer of the Year in 2023 by The Event Community. We are very happy to have this accomplishment; Our project being recognized for our hard work. It is tough starting a business, having customers to hire you, being credible, and make your brand stand out. We love to connect people with our food. Food is our passion and being able to make people happy with it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three assets that have been most impactful in the journey are Optimism, Innovate, Dedication.
When you start any journey, there will always be doubt and fear. The best attitudes will remain positive when times are hard/rough. Slowly but surely your work, dedication and quality will be wanted by many people.
Innovating is what makes your work stand out from the rest. When your work is morphed into your style or vision, It becomes a valuable asset that people will desire.
The best companies in the world are here today because their dedication has made them achieve global recognition.
An advice I can give on people who are early in their journey is to always be optimistic. Our business was not built in one day. Always be humbled and celebrate every achievement even if it is a small one. Every castle was built by putting one brick at a time. Always take a step back every few months and analyze where the business is headed. Is your business headed where you want it? what changes do I need to make to get there? No business is above any other business, the sun comes out the same for everyone.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Overcoming challenges is and always will be an issue in any business, but the way you handle the challenges is what makes a business thrive of fail. Problem solving skills, people skills, and patience are key qualities in my opinion that are needed.
Problems will always arise, whether its personal, business, family or whatever the occasion. Being able to solve problems quick will be a great quality to have or build. Dealing with people will always be the hardest task, If you are a people person, this will be an ease for you. Unlike me, I am very shy and it has made me come out of my comfort zone to be able to manage people.
Patience is key because the business side will not always start by having lots of customer, lots of business, and lots of sales. Everyone knows there is good times and bad times. Always be grateful when business is good. Patience will be tested when business is starting and when it’s slow.
