We recently connected with Christopher Kaiser and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
For me it’s to keep reading and studying others that paved the way for me and others. I don’t lose any creativity cause my brain runs a marathon and stuff is always coming up.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Well for starters, I am author and poet Kaiserrific (Ki-zer-rif-ik) and I have been a poet for almost 13 years, an author 11 years with a total of 17 books published. I am also an open mic/ internet radio podcast host. I am a photographer at K’riff Photography. A show producer who produced several shows. My exact purpose is to entertain my city. I want to bring out and introduce new poets and more so that St. Louisans and surrounding cities can see the talent that is displayed in our city!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
For me,
1. To remain humble in everything that you do. Be understanding of what you are faced with. People will test you as you successfully come up in your life. They will watch you and study with you.
2. Study the greats, it’s important to watch the people before us who paved a way. Something about them made it work, it’s more than just talent. It’s a life experience that most people will remember and never forget. Reintroduce those talents to a new generation and let them experience what we experience.
3. Focus and study your craft. No need to be half ass about what you do. If you are going to give people a show or a business or service, give them their money’s worth and some more so they will want to keep coming back.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Is the fact that I can reach people on a much higher plateau than what I started with. For example in 2021 my friend came to me about doing poetry. I laid down everything that she will need to know. I invited her to my show Queens of Poetry and she was outdone. She thought that it was going to be plain and boring. But on that show I had some heavy hitters and it made a difference in her life. After that, she featured for me, we wrote a book together and she hosted one of my shows. Not to forget that she was in the Queens of Poetry in 2022. So for me growth would be changing my way of thinking and helping others have an open mind!
