Meet Christopher Peterson

We were lucky to catch up with Christopher Peterson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Christopher, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
During my upbringing and life experiences, I’ve developed resilience through various sources. Firstly, my family has played a significant role in shaping my resilience. They have always encouraged me to face challenges head-on, learn from failures, and persist because that was the only choice that was given.

Furthermore, my self education has also contributed to my resilience. The process of learning and overcoming obstacles has taught me the value of perseverance and the importance of adapting to new situations.

Additionally, my involvement in extracurricular activities and hobbies has exposed me to different challenges and setbacks. These experiences have taught me how to manage stress, stay focused on goals, and maintain a positive outlook, even when things don’t go as planned.

Lastly, observing the struggles and successes of various role models, whether they are historical figures, mentors, or public figures, has inspired me to cultivate resilience. Learning about their journeys and how they dealt with difficulties has provided me with valuable insights and motivation to face challenges in my own life.

In summary, my resilience is a culmination of the support and guidance from my family, the lessons learned through education and extracurricular activities, and the inspiration drawn from various role models.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
In my professional journey, I’ve immersed myself in the vibrant world of visual and audio storytelling. Currently, I hold the role of a full-time professional photographer/hub manager for JPIX, Marathonfoto, and Montclair Media. Within these domains, I wear multiple hats to craft captivating narratives through photography and cinematography, breathing life into commercials, short films, music videos, and beyond.

What truly excites me about my work is the ability to capture moments that convey emotions, stories, and experiences. Whether it’s freezing a fleeting expression in a photograph or weaving together a compelling visual narrative, every project offers an opportunity to delve into the essence of the subject matter.

At Montclair Media, I extend my creative reach to encompass a wide spectrum of services. From capturing the love and joy of weddings to the energy of live concerts, my photography and videography services cater to diverse occasions. I take immense pride in engineering music projects and releasing my own creations, channeling my passion for music into meaningful expressions.

My involvement as a cinematographer with Discover Pro Wrestling (DPW) adds an electrifying dimension to my portfolio. This venture lets me blend my technical prowess with the raw intensity of the wrestling arena, resulting in visually compelling content that resonates with fans.

Diversification is a hallmark of my career, as I also delve into graphic design and animation on a project basis. Crafting logos and animations for both renowned music artists and local businesses is a testament to my commitment to visually shaping brand identities.

A recent accomplishment is the creation of “montclairworld.com,” a dynamic platform that harmoniously amalgamates my creative endeavors and entrepreneurial ventures. This website not only serves as a hub for my business and artistic ventures but also acts as a reliable source of live news, spanning local updates to global events.

Beyond the professional realm, I find immense joy in being a father to my 2-year-old boy and 9-year-old daughter, and a dedicated partner to my fiancé. Balancing these roles with my myriad business undertakings and personal interests is a testament to my passion for both family and entrepreneurship.

In summary, my journey is an ongoing symphony of visual and auditory exploration, crafting moments that resonate with audiences while also nurturing the bonds of family and creativity. I embrace the thrill of every new project and venture with the same dedication that I bring to all facets of my life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, there are three qualities that have proven to be immensely impactful:

Adaptability: The ability to adapt to different situations and challenges has been a cornerstone of my journey. Early on, I realized that the creative and business landscapes are ever-evolving. Embracing change and learning to pivot when necessary has allowed me to stay relevant and seize new opportunities. My advice for those starting their journey is to cultivate a flexible mindset. Be open to trying new approaches, learning from failures, and embracing change as a catalyst for growth.
Continuous Learning: In the creative industry, staying curious and committed to learning is crucial. Whether it’s mastering new photography techniques, staying updated with the latest software, or understanding shifting trends, dedicating time to expand your knowledge base is a powerful asset. My advice for beginners is to adopt a mindset of continuous improvement. Seek out learning resources, attend workshops, engage with communities, and never underestimate the value of expanding your skill set.
Networking and Collaboration: Building a strong network and collaborating with others have been instrumental in my journey. Connecting with fellow artists, professionals, and clients has opened doors to exciting projects and opportunities. Collaboration brings fresh perspectives and sparks innovation. For those starting out, my advice is to actively engage in networking events, online communities, and industry meet-ups. Don’t hesitate to reach out to like-minded individuals and be open to collaborative ventures.
To those embarking on their own journeys, I encourage you to embrace adaptability, commit to continuous learning, and invest in meaningful connections. These qualities have not only enriched my path but have also fortified my passion for creativity and entrepreneurship. Remember, every step you take, every challenge you overcome, and every lesson you learn contributes to your growth and success.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Over the past 12 months, my journey has witnessed remarkable growth and improvement across various dimensions.

In terms of professional development, I’ve made significant strides by enrolling in paid film courses and dedicating myself to an array of cinematography projects. These experiences have honed my technical skills, enriched my understanding of visual storytelling, and amplified my proficiency in crafting compelling narratives. Moreover, my foray into photography has proven equally transformative. I’ve observed a substantial leap in my photographic abilities, translating to more refined compositions and a heightened mastery of capturing moments.

Equally vital has been my journey of personal growth. Over this period, I’ve embarked on a transformative path of shedding negative energy and fostering a forward-focused mindset. This internal shift has enabled me to not only maintain my unwavering focus on my goals but also to extend forgiveness to those who introduce negativity. This newfound ability to navigate interpersonal dynamics with grace and resilience has been an indispensable component of my personal evolution.

In essence, these past 12 months have encapsulated a twofold journey of skill enhancement and personal maturation. Through dedicated learning and hands-on projects, I’ve elevated my proficiency in cinematography and photography. Simultaneously, I’ve cultivated the strength to shield my path from negativity while maintaining a compassionate and forgiving outlook. As I look ahead, this integrated growth fuels my determination to continue creating meaningful visuals and narratives while nurturing a positive and purpose-driven mindset.
