Meet Christy Cason

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christy Cason a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Christy, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My name is Christy Cason, I developed my confidence from my parents Milton and Corine Mayfield. As a child my parents instilled in me that I had the opportunity and ability to construct my life as I wanted to. I have come to believe that I am the architect of my life, and I can design it the way I want it to be. I am the youngest of four siblings, I had examples to follow or not follow so I learned at an early age to be an independent thinker. We took family vacations when I was young and that sparked my interest in travelling around the world.

As a child I would save my weekly allowance so I could purchase items I wanted like Barry White albums. I developed a relationship with money at an early age, this boosted my self-esteem showing me I could make my own decisions. As a teenager my sister I started giving trips to an amusement park in Ohio called Cedar Point, this was my first venture in the travel industry. We also started a business called She and Her Productions and we gave fashion show in our hometown of Detroit, MI.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I was put on this earth to be a world traveler! I love to travel and experience new cultures and continents; this is my purpose in life. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Christy relocated to N Las Vegas, Nevada in 1998 with her husband Tommy Cason, Sr. Christy Cason is the owner and founder of Cason Travel & Tours LLC, a retail travel agency in Nevada. The company opened in 1995 and has 30 years of customer service experience.

Christy has a 13-year background in the banking industry before starting the travel business, has a strong community involvement with local non-profit organizations and encourages entrepreneurship. I served as Vice President for the 100 Black Women of America, Las Vegas Chapter and as President of a non-profit, the Detroit Connection for six years. Current member of The Cruise Line International Association (CLIA).

Christy is an International Event Planner and specializes in coordinating Fundraisers at Sea and land for non-profit organizations and group travel experiences. Cason Travel & Tours has donated over $60,000 to non-profit organizations with the Fundraiser At Sea Program that I started in 2002. In 2021 I created the Annual MoBay FunFest in Jamaica, a
4-night Boutique Music & Wellness Festival. This year’s festival takes place June 19 – 23, 2025 in Jamaica at the brand-new all-inclusive Princess Senses The Mangrove Luxury Resort. This festival caters to adults only.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most important skills I utilized was being persistent, consistent, and loyal to myself and my brand. Not allowing others to discourage me because they couldn’t see my vision. I enjoy researching destinations and learning new things. Research is one of my best skills.

I specialize in group travel; I love introducing people to new destinations and experiences.
