Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christy Charlot. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Christy, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
My self-discipline is largely rooted in several key factors.
1. Personal Goals: I have set clear, achievable goals for myself, both short-term and long-term. These goals serve as a constant reminder of why I need to stay disciplined. When I encounter challenges or distractions, I visualize the end result and remind myself of the commitment I’ve made to reach those goals.
2. Intrinsic Motivation: My desire to improve and grow stems from a deep-seated belief that I am capable of achieving great things. This belief motivates me to push through obstacles and remain disciplined, even when faced with setbacks.
3. Routine and Structure: I find that creating a structured environment helps me maintain my self-discipline. Establishing daily routines allows me to allocate time effectively for tasks, making it easier to stay focused and minimize distractions.
4. Accountability: Sharing my goals with friends, family, or mentors helps hold me accountable. Knowing that others are aware of my commitments encourages me to follow through and not let them down.
5. Reflection and Adaptation: Regularly reflecting on my progress allows me to reassess my strategies and make necessary adjustments. Understanding what works for me and what doesn’t is crucial for maintaining discipline over time.
I truly believe that self-discipline is a skill that can be developed with practice and perseverance. It isn’t always easy, but the rewards—personal growth and achievement—make it worthwhile.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Christy, and I’m a Boston native of Haitian descent. From a young age, I’ve been passionate about drawing, especially creating cartoon characters. I first fell in love with art when I was around 8 years old, and I’d spend hours designing characters and the worlds they inhabited. These creations were my little secret—I didn’t share them with anyone at first.
That all changed in 2020 when I accidentally left one of my drawings behind at work. The next day, it went viral among my coworkers, and I was amazed by the positive feedback. The unexpected response sparked something in me, and I decided to share my work more widely. From that moment, my art career took off. The feedback kept pouring in, and I began to create more pieces, ultimately landing big projects with notable companies and clients.
What excites me most about my work is the ability to create new, vibrant worlds and characters that resonate with people. I love the challenge of blending storytelling with visual art to create something truly original. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my artistic range while also developing new collaborations with clients who share my passion for creativity. There’s always something new on the horizon, and I’m excited for where this journey will take me next.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been my heightened sense of intuition, discernment, and resilience. My intuition has often guided me, helping me sense what to avoid, what to embrace, and when to take risks. It’s been a constant reminder that, even when things seem uncertain, trusting my gut and believing that things will work out is key to moving forward. Discernment has been crucial in keeping me safe, making wise decisions, and steering clear of situations that could have derailed my progress. And resilience—perhaps the most important—has been my driving force in overcoming the countless obstacles that have come my way, especially when things seemed impossible.
For those just starting their journey, my advice is to consciously and actively work on these qualities. Growth takes time, but every small step forward counts. Develop your intuition by learning to trust yourself and pay attention to the signals around you. Build discernment by reflecting on past experiences and learning from them. And above all, cultivate resilience by pushing through setbacks and staying committed to your vision, even when the path isn’t clear. Progress may be slow at times, but persistence will always pay off.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
