Meet Chucho Morales

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chucho Morales a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chucho, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from within. I firmly believe that one of the most powerful things an individual can do is trust in themselves, because if you don’t, who will? This mindset forms the foundation of everything I do. I know my strengths and capabilities, and when I commit to something, I do so with the confidence that I can see it through—otherwise, I wouldn’t embark on it in the first place.

Of course, there are always moments when you find yourself staring into the unknown, questioning whether a solution exists. But in those moments, optimism becomes your greatest ally. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about tackling a tough challenge and coming out the other side with a solution. In the moment, it can feel like an uphill battle, but the sense of achievement afterward makes it all worthwhile.

Keeping a positive mindset and carrying good energy not only helps you navigate challenges but also allows you to elevate your work and reach new heights. Negativity adds no value—it’s a roadblock to progress. Optimism, on the other hand, paves the way for creativity and resilience, reminding you that there’s always a solution out there waiting to be found. You just need to work for it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am Chucho Morales, a Mexican actor, director, and producer. I am passionate about filmmaking and love every step of the process, from pre-production all the way to the project’s release. It’s an incredible experience to collaborate with talented people who share the same enthusiasm for the project. Watching everyone come together to create something that audiences can enjoy is truly amazing.

Currently, I am focused on short films and have two projects underway: ‘Artist,’ which I directed and will begin its festival run in 2025, and ‘Imminent Danger,’ an action short film currently in pre-production that we will start filming in the first week of April in Puebla, Mexico.

I am excited for both projects and can’t wait to see how ‘Artist’ will perform at festivals. Right now, my full attention is on ‘Imminent Danger,’ in which I am acting, directing, and producing. The entire team is thrilled to bring this project to life. It’s packed with action, a compelling story, intense fight scenes, and incredible stunts. I am confident that the audience will love it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I am also just beginning this journey, but I believe the best qualities to foster for continuous improvement include a strong work ethic. By this, I mean approaching every task with professionalism and giving it the importance it deserves. You should always give your best and take each project seriously, even if it seems small. Developing a solid work ethic is essential.

It’s equally important to stay true to your values. Your values are what define you as an individual, so always keep them in mind and follow them. Never accept anything that goes against your core beliefs, because doing so will result in a half-hearted effort and a negative experience. Why? Because if you don’t care about it, your work will reflect that lack of investment.

Lastly, honesty is one of the most valuable qualities anyone can have. There is nothing better than being truthful—it builds trust and integrity in everything you do.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

You should find a balance. Focusing on your strengths is valuable because it helps you excel and stay ahead in those areas. However, working on your weaknesses is equally important. When you dedicate time to improving in areas where you lack proficiency, you develop experience that can open up more opportunities and make you a better-prepared individual.

Ultimately, this approach allows you to understand more aspects of your work and take on greater responsibilities. Even if your weaknesses don’t become your strengths, gaining a basic understanding makes you more capable and versatile. This, in turn, enhances your ability to lead effectively and become a more well-rounded person.
