Meet Chyna Norman

We were lucky to catch up with Chyna Norman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Chyna, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Self love. Self love was the best thing I could’ve ever discovered and found within myself. I realized everything starts from within. Not to search for it from anywhere else, but realize it all starts with me. The lack thereof stemmed from somewhere, I just had to truly find what that was. When I was younger, throughout school, I really didn’t have a voice. At times, I was able to stand for others, but hardly when it came to SELF. I was in the energy of people pleasing, not knowing how to say no, and ultimately this lead to me being in situations where I was took advantage of. I had to realize the only reason certain situations where happening to me was because not only did I allow it, but I was continuously being put in those situations to teach me a lesson and show me the path to truly find myself, my voice. It’s so funny how life works. Everything is happening for you, not to you. It took time after time again, but at some point it clicked. The only reason things are happening to me is because I’m allowing it. Notice the patterns. I soon realized people will treat you exactly how you treat self. The more I poured into myself, created boundaries for myself, learned how to say no, stand up for myself, even with the people I love? Things started to change. For the better.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’d like to call myself a jack of all trades. I know I am gifted and my purpose is not to be directed in one area so I must be able to direct my energy in more than one room. I’m a creative, influencer, spiritualist, licensed cosmetologist, aspiring entrepreneur, humanitarian, I know my purpose is to uplift earth consciousness and spread my knowledge throughout the world. I just want to be right where the most high calls me to be. Currently, I upload every Monday – Friday via TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook doing “GRWM + CHIT CHAT” (Get Ready With Me) centered around all things self love, guidance, uplifting messages, etc. I’m grateful and excited to be able to spread my knowledge and wisdom out into the world! There’s a lot of people my age, younger, and even older that need that guidance and just encouragement! It’s never too late to start loving yourself!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency, Faith, and determination were key factors that played a vital and impactful role along my journey. All three of these factors all play hand and hand. Being determined will give you that will power to stay consistent. They’re something in the back of your mind, that goal, that outcome, that you know that you’re going to get. Even when some days may not be as exciting as others, you’re not feeling motivated, or things aren’t taking off as fast as you planned it to. This is where having a strong sense of faith comes in. Knowing that all the work you’re putting in will come with a reward. You will achieve everything that you put your mind and work into. It may not be easy in the beginning. You may not get the support you want, the views you’re wanting on that video, Ace that skill right away, etc. but you have to start somewhere! You have to continuously put the work in because one day, things can actually change over night. Especially when you’ve been applying pressure in all the right areas. Tomorrow is always yours.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I believe it’s important to focus on what’s meant for you and what comes with the path with least resistance. That’s what’s natural. It’s good to be well rounded, when it comes to what’s for YOU. Everything isn’t for everybody. So it’s very important to figure out what best suits you! Often times we want it ALL, when ALL may not be for you. You shouldn’t want it “All” rather the things that are meant for you. I believe you should find and tap into your purpose, something you’re really good at and excel off of that. You may have many skills that you’re good at. A jack of all trades. Be content in that. What’s for you will never pass you by. If there’s areas that you deem that you lack in and you feel called to improve, go for it. When things start to come with too much resistance, it’s okay to admit that it may not be for you and focus on what is. What’s for you will never pass you by.
