We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ciara Burton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ciara below.
Ciara, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience was developed at an early age from watching all the strong women in my family. The women in my family are absolutely the strongest Queens I know! It has been times, I’ve seen my grandmother take loss after loss and she just simply mange to keep going! Seeing the way she navigated through life build the structure of my resilience today.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve been a Freelance MUA for 6 years now, and proud to say I’m an official Esthetician! I’ve recently completed my esthetic program at Aveda Arts of Dallas, Tx and I’m super excited about this journey. This journey is so dear and special to my heart because now I have the license behind what I love to do, and that’s to enhance the natural beauty of others!
I will be expanding my business Ciara Sade LLC to the next level by adding on services such as premium facials, waxing, lashing and even adding skin care products to my current makeup brand!
Alot of things are still in process and are set to launch within the year 2025-26!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three quailites/skills that helped me along this journey were, being persistent, keeping an open mind, and remaining kind throughout this journey!
Constantly being persistent and keeping my motivation allowed me to stay focus on my end goals. I also had to expand my mindset going deeper into the beauty field in order to be able to cater to my clientele because no one person are alike! Staying kind and humble has connected me with so many others who are likeminded and even place me in rooms with a lot of aspiring people!
The best advice I could give to others who are on their life journey is to know that nothing comes easy, Hard work and dedication has to play a part! Also to allow yourself some grace! Sometimes you may have a few hiccups here and there but do not give up! Keep that tunnel vision when it comes to your dreams and goals!
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Life as a DayMaker by David Wagner.
I received this book while enrolled in school last year and it has been a life changer! A few things I took from this book firstly was the definition of a daymaker.
Daymaker: NOUN. A person who performs intentional acts of kindness with intention of making the world a better place.
We all have daymaker qualities inside of us. All it takes it’s a little kindness and a smile!
Being in an industry that services people has taught me to make others day by doing simple things, smiling, saying hello, asking a person how things are going, etc etc.
Another nugget I took from this book was: “Be kind everyone you meet, is fighting an hard battle”- John Watson
Sometimes you have to remember and keep in the back of your mind that you don’t know someone’s whole story! I literally try to treat others the way I would want to be treated and that alone has taken me a long way in life!
