We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cierra Conerly-Sims. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cierra below.
Cierra, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
To be honest, I’ve never allowed imposter syndrome to enter my mind. I made a conscious decision not to validate it as a personal issue. I firmly believe that what’s often labeled as imposter syndrome is merely societal conditioning, where we’re accustomed to someone telling us we have it. When we break it down, “imposter” implies deceit for personal gain, while “syndrome” suggests a collection of symptoms or behaviors. By accepting imposter syndrome, I’d essentially be acknowledging that I’m intentionally pretending to be someone else for fraudulent reasons, based on others’ or self perceptions of me that I have internalized. When I reflect on my education, training, and achievements, imposter syndrome just doesn’t align with my reality.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One skill that has impacted my journey is mastering the art of active listening. This skill has not only enabled me to comprehend diverse perspectives but has also fostered collaboration in my engagements.
The quality of humbleness has been instrumental. I attribute all of my success to God and allowing myself to maintaining a humble demeanor and a profound sense of gratitude for all that I’ve achieved. Grounded in a heart of giving and community, I enter every room with authenticity, letting my light shine brightly. Regardless of the challenges I face, I remain steadfast in my values, never allowing external influences to compromise my character.
Lastly, understanding and embracing my true self has been transformative. Until I delved deep into discovering Cierra, I only scratched the surface of my potential. To those embarking on their journey, I offer this advice: prioritize self-discovery. Embrace every facet of your being unapologetically. Seek wisdom from mentors who are invested in your growth, surround yourself with like-minded individuals, and learn from those who have already blazed trails. Embrace failure as a stepping stone to growth and never hesitate to begin.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am ALWAYS looking for collaboration opportunities. I am seeking like-minded individuals who want to speak on stages together, plan events together, work together as vendors, style shoots, festivals, creatives who want to practice, people who need to showcase their work in the event and wedding industry. Speakers who want to motivate and inspire others through conferences. Book collaborations. I am open!
