We recently connected with Cierra Seay and have shared our conversation below.
Cierra, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I can’t say I’ve reached a point where I know without a doubt that I’ve fully ‘found’ my purpose at least not in the definitive, tied-up-in-a-bow way people sometimes describe it. What I do know is that a consistent theme in my life has been my ability to recognize, utilize, and continually develop my gifts in ways that open doors and create opportunities.
Writing has always been a natural gift for me. Leaning into that talent led me to winning competitions for storytelling, writing for magazines, and eventually becoming a copywriter, and using that gift effectively opened the door for me to begin teaching others how to communicate and market themselves. That opportunity revealed another gift I didn’t know I had speaking and from there, I started building experiences I never would have predicted.
The interesting thing is, nothing I’m doing right now was on my original vision board. My journey hasn’t been about chasing one fixed idea, but about leaning into the skills and passions that naturally create impact and saying yes when opportunities align with them.
For me, purpose feels less like a single destination and more like an evolving path one that’s shaped by what I’m learning, who I’m serving, and how I’m growing.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m from Detroit, and my path has been anything but traditional. I’m a three-time college dropout, had my son early in my 20s, and at 24, I lost my mom an experience that forced me to navigate grief while figuring out how to build a life and career from the ground up. I got married at 25 and was divorced before 30, and my faith was the anchor that carried me through what honestly feels like a blur when I look back on it now.
Today, I’m the founder of The Revive Group, a marketing and education firm that helps businesses communicate clearly, connect deeply, and convert consistently through powerful messaging and email marketing. Alongside that, I’m developing The Message Mirror Project an AI-powered platform designed to help founders turn their natural speech into clear, compelling brand messaging without the need for a copywriter.
Professionally, my focus right now is twofold: continuing to work closely with a select group of clients through consulting and training, and building out The Message Mirror so it can reach more early-stage founders especially underestimated entrepreneurs and give them the tools they need to grow their businesses. I’m also focused on creating culturally relevant content for television that’s designed to help people become the best versions of themselves and live out their wildest dreams.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey:
Resilience – Life didn’t hand me a neat, predictable path. Between navigating grief and the uncertainty of entrepreneurship, I had to learn how to keep moving forward when things didn’t go as planned. Resilience has been less about “bouncing back” and more about building the capacity to stand in hard seasons without losing sight of what’s possible.
Advice: Build resilience by putting yourself in situations that stretch you and learn how to separate temporary setbacks from permanent limitations.
Communication Skills – My natural gift for writing became the foundation of my career. Being able to articulate ideas clearly ,whether in marketing copy, a keynote, or a one-on-one conversation, has opened doors I didn’t even know existed.
Advice: If you want to grow in this area, study both how people speak and how they listen. Read great writing, practice your own, and get feedback from people who will tell you the truth, not just what you want to hear.
Faith – Faith has been my anchor through the toughest seasons of my life, from losing my mom to facing moments where I didn’t know what the future would look like. Believing in something bigger than myself — for me, that’s God — has given me perspective, peace, and the courage to keep showing up even when I couldn’t see the outcome.
Advice: Whatever your belief system, root yourself in something greater than you. Faith gives you the strength to endure uncertainty and the confidence to walk into opportunities you can’t yet fully see.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is stop completely. I step away from the work or whatever the situation is that’s causing the overwhelm, because pushing through in that state usually just makes things worse. I pray, I listen to worship music, and sometimes I’ll go for a walk to clear my head. In that space, I remind myself of what’s true and what’s not true separating facts from the stories my stress is trying to tell me.
I’ll also do breathwork to calm my nervous system so I can get back to a place of clarity. For me, it’s about interrupting the spiral before it gains momentum and choosing practices that restore peace and perspective, so when I return to the work, I’m grounded and ready to tackle it.
