We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cilla Whitley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cilla, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I’ve always been of the mindset that the power of positivity and the energy it creates is unmatchable. How you carry yourself and present yourself to others is crucial to your overall sense of well-being.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
After retiring from Dental Hygiene, I was on the search for a role to fulfill my passion of health and wellness. In November 2022, I received an incredible opportunity to help launch a better for you protein popcorn with KUDO Snacks. We use a unique one of a kind process to create a delicious version of everyone’s favorite snack – popcorn. It’s been amazing to pour into this company and create my own vision to promote this product.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my three qualities would be connection, integrity & organization. I try to resonate with anyone I’m building a relationship with. In sales, relationships and networking are critical to success. I think so much is lost today with social media and technology in general. It is important to meet people in person or speak on the phone to truly make a strong connection.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
In my opinion, Communication in the workplace today has suffered since Covid. I think most everyone being shut off from the world took a toll on relationships. I have taken the last year to really work on communication not only with my own family but with everyone I come in contact with. I find texting to be so easy but the true meaning of the text can often be lost in translation. I had to really dig deep to get myself back in the mode of a different form of connection.
