Meet Cindy Geffrard

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cindy Geffrard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Cindy, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I have learned the art of preparation and maintaining professionalism. When you are the only one in the room ,you’re an outsider. Being an outsider means you will be tested and under judgment. People’s perception of you will be through the lens of what their personal experience was with someone that looks like you. I was always prepared, proactive, and, professional.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am focused on my Business, Beauty Within Facial. My company makes organic skin care products that connect you with nature and give you a spa experience at home. My featured honey black clay mask is safe for all ages and helps with acne, detoxification, and anti aging. I also make hand made artisan soap and sell vegan make up. What makes my company different from other beauty companies is that I incorporate natural herbs and holistic remedies in my products that meet your aesthetic goals and promote healing, I am passionate about my company because healing and helping people gives me fulfillment. I plan to eventually open a brick and mortar store.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I have a strong spiritual connection with God, I researched before making decisions, I reached to other professionals for advice. Doing these things will give you a strong foundation.
