We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cinzi Lavin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cinzi below.
Cinzi, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
To me, generosity isn’t as much about one’s ability to give as it is about knowing that making life good for everyone is the right thing to do.
Creating a generosity-based society, then, is when we offer help or sustenance or even encouragement to others. This goes entirely against a scarcity-based society because when we live this way, we discover that we have limitless goodness to share. There is always more to give.
I am generous with others, particularly in sharing my time and talents, because I wish success for everyone. As I explain in my book, Making Bread Out of Straw, we’re all little lights, and if one of us isn’t shining, all the rest aren’t going to shine, either.
I’m also fortunate to come from a long line of philanthropists and humanitarians who taught me the value of generosity from a very young age.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a playwright and musical dramatist; I’ve also written several books, both fiction and nonfiction.
Earlier this year, one of my plays premiered in Ireland and two others were produced here in the states. Bold Journey readers are now going to be the first to know about my newest play, Banshee Bahamian, which will open in 2026 on both sides of the Atlantic! I’m also writing a special musical drama in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
In addition, I’m an artistic and theatric consultant for individuals and organizations, so if you would like to work with me, contact me at cinzi at cinzilavin dot com.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My humanity, my creativity, and my ability to recognize that obstacles are only illusions are what got me from Point A to Point B in terms of career success.
My book, Making Bread Out of Straw: How to Succeed with Almost Nothing by Helping Others, Thinking Creatively, and Ignoring Obstacles, outlines indispensable philosophies, clever tips, and practical strategies which can be powerfully leveraged to further your goals, particularly if you aren’t starting out with money, background, education, or influence.
It will profoundly change the way you think!

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client for creative or theatric consulting is someone who has much more going for them than they realize. I’ve worked with individuals and groups that have tremendous skills to leverage toward achieving their goals, but they simply don’t realize it.
We joke about looking in the refrigerator and not seeing the container we’re looking for even though it’s sitting on a shelf inches from our nose. Creative consulting work is like that–often, the solution to my clients’ problems is right in front of them but they simply haven’t recognized it. I love helping them to make the connection that they already have what they need, and seeing the look of relief on their faces when they realize that solving their problems is going to be much easier than they ever thought possible.
