Alright – so today we have the honor of introducing you to Cinzia Moniaci . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Cinzia , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My whole immediate family has impeccable work ethic and you can tell by the incredibile achievements they’ve made, without being given anything for free. And in particular, I think the drive, discipline and commitment came from my grandparents.
My female role models, my grandmothers, were absolute superheroes, raising families enduring a war, all the while working incessantly and supporting their husbands careers on top of having their own work life. In my family, there was always a sense of pride around the idea of working as a woman and even in the very last conversations.
I can remember my grandmother in her late 90s still asking my female cousins: are you working?
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
This is a special time of my life because after building my businesses in fashion (MoniMoni.com), interior design (Dreamlightdesign.com) and luxury travel accommodations (Koolkondo.com) I recently moved to Rome, Italy after over two decades in Los Angeles. Our daughter is studying here and I now have the luxury to dedicate myself to my artistic passions.
I have been writing, singing and performing songs for a very long time and had songs on several tv shows. I never stopped working on my craft and collaborating with great musicians and producers but I am so inspired here.
I have created so many new songs and I am in the process of releasing two new albums I wrote in the last three years.
After a surprise jump on the commercial pop charts in the UK in 2020, I wrote an electronica EP called Palm Springs, it’s infused with my love of alternative music and I am thrilled people are enjoying the first single “Love is a Curse” by Cinzia.
I just released it a week ago and it’s already on several playlists and getting wonderful feedback.
I also will be releasing an alternative pop rock album with my band The Perfect Nines, and will be performing in Europe starting in May.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would have to say: courage, determination and positivity. You are going to need all three, together with a good dose of strong will, in order to make things happen.
I studied Communications very early on in the game of media and that definitely helped me in my journey.
Also, I never stop learning, investing time on my education and I think that’s a very important quality to ensure success.
When I was starting my brand I won a scholarship at FIDM, Even if already had a PHD, I studied interior interior design when I started to invest in vacation properties and so forth.
I make sure to feed myself constant information that can support my goals and endeavors. I strive to better myself as a person because I know that also greatly impacts my family life and so far that’s worked very well for me.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
There is always growth with change and I think moving to Rome after so many years in Los Angeles proved to be an exciting new challenge. There were so many things to do in order to establish our base in Italy.
It definitely helps that I speak the language, in fact I love that I am using all my languages here, I am writing songs and speaking in Italian, French and Spanish. My daughter is speaking Italian French and Spanish as well and it’s incredible to see how the brain expands when you learn different idioms as and you interact daily with different cultures. Rome is such a great international hub.
Being originally from Italy, but having been gone for so long, it was also a way to bring back to my Country what I have learnt and experienced in my over two decades in LA. There is a wonderful exchange with the people I meet daily that is wonderfully inspiring to me and for an artist inspiration is everything.
