Citizen Snips, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Probably going to concerts. Every time we go to just about any concert, one of us is saying “oh we could do something like that”
And most of them wouldn’t even make sense considering what we tended to play. Like seeing Black Midi and trying to figure out how to make our light psych indie rock more like their jazz prog.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We do music. Lots of it lately. We’ve been playing around town a ton, recording, writing. In fact, in about a month we should have something to show for all that recording. Until then we’ve got a few more shows this year, then a quick hibernation to write and more music into the next year with an EP on the horizon.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience for all 3. In a “career” way sure, but more specifically for people in general. Not everyone is gonna immediately get where you’re coming from or vice versa. Just take a sec to figure it out and don’t be so tense. No thuggin it out. If the last few years have shown me anything It’s that we all need one big national shoulder rub.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
In Sacramento, there’s way too many to even choose. Fonty, The Snares, Countermen, Rest Assured, Namik, Plum Anderson, there’s insane talent pouring out of every crack in this city.
