Meet Clementine Bastos

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Clementine Bastos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Clementine below.

Clementine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose wasn’t something that happened overnight — it really unfolded through connection and compassion. It began when I witnessed how deeply hair loss affects women, not just on the outside, but on a deeply emotional level. Helping even one woman see herself in the mirror again and smile — that moment lit something in me.

What started as a simple desire to help became a calling: to restore confidence, dignity, and joy through beautiful, natural-looking hair. Over time, I realised my purpose isn’t just about making wigs — it’s about creating hope, community, and self-love for women walking through some of the hardest seasons of their lives.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At Goldylost, we create high-quality human hair wigs and toppers designed to restore confidence and joy for women experiencing hair loss. What makes our work so special is that every piece is handcrafted with care, but more importantly — every woman we meet has a story. For many of our clients, this isn’t just about hair; it’s about identity, healing, and feeling like themselves again.

What excites me most is seeing the transformation — not just physically, but emotionally. When a woman puts on one of our pieces and suddenly her shoulders relax, her smile comes back — that’s the moment we live for.

Goldylost began as a small passion project and has now grown into an international brand with stores in Sydney and Miami, and pop-up events across the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. We offer in-person and online consultations, so no matter where someone lives, they can receive personal guidance and care.

We’re constantly innovating — from new lightweight, hand-tied designs to special events that bring our community together. Each year, we also hold fundraising initiatives like our Pink Ribbon Breakfast, helping support women navigating breast cancer.

Ultimately, what I want people to know about Goldylost is that we’re more than a hair company — we’re a community. Every strand is hand-tied with compassion, and every woman we help becomes part of the Goldylost family.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey most were empathy, resilience, and curiosity.

Empathy has been the foundation of everything we do at Goldylost. Listening — really listening — to the women who come to us changed how I view business. It’s not about selling a product; it’s about understanding emotions, fears, and hopes. For anyone starting out, I’d say: connect deeply with the people you want to help. Purpose grows from empathy.

Resilience has been equally essential. Building something meaningful often involves uncertainty, setbacks, and long nights. There were moments when things felt impossible — but I learned that resilience isn’t about never falling; it’s about standing up with more clarity each time. My advice: treat challenges as chapters, not failures.

And finally, curiosity — the willingness to keep learning. From understanding the craftsmanship behind each wig to learning marketing, leadership, and technology, curiosity kept me growing. For anyone early in their journey: stay open, stay humble, and never stop asking questions. Growth happens when you allow yourself to keep learning — even when you think you already know enough.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

At Goldylost, we love collaborating with people and brands who share our heart-led mission — to help women feel confident, seen, and beautiful, exactly as they are.

We’re especially interested in working with:

Hair and beauty professionals who understand the emotional side of hair loss and want to learn or share expertise in compassionate styling, colouring, or wig care.

Medical professionals and wellness practitioners — dermatologists, trichologists, oncology nurses, and women’s health advocates — who want to provide their patients with trusted, empowering hair solutions.

Content creators and storytellers who lead with authenticity and want to use their platforms to uplift women’s confidence, not just promote products.

Retail and event partners who align with our values of empathy, quality, and community, helping us bring the Goldylost experience to new cities and countries.

Ultimately, we’re drawn to collaborators who value kindness, honesty, and empowerment — people who understand that what we do goes far beyond hair; it’s about giving women back a part of themselves
