We recently connected with Coach Chatty and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from a combination of my upbringing and my personal values. I was raised in a family where giving, whether it was time, support, or resources, was seen as a way to strengthen community and uplift others. Over time, I’ve learned that sharing what I have not only helps others but also brings me fulfillment and a sense of purpose. Generosity, for me, is about connection, empathy, and making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Chatty, a social service professional and the founder of Chatty Wellness, where I help Black women and communities prioritize their well-being through life coaching, social media coaching, and workshop creation and facilitation. What excites me most about my work is seeing people have those “aha” moments—when they connect the dots in their lives, gain clarity, and feel empowered to grow.
Under the Chatty Wellness umbrella, I run a book club for Black women and an online women’s group, providing spaces where women can come together, read, learn, and grow collectively. I also provide free life coaching advice on social platforms, including TikTok livestreams, where I’ve built a community of over 31,000 people who engage with my podcast content that links all aspects of life back to wellness. Through inspiration, motivation, and hope, my goal is to support women in navigating life’s challenges while celebrating their wins.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my workshops, community programming, and Chatty Chit Chats podcast, offering more opportunities for women to connect, learn, and take their wellness to the next level.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are communication, empathy, and adaptability. Communication has been huge, it’s not just about being able to explain ideas clearly, but also about listening, connecting with people, and building relationships. Empathy has allowed me to understand where people are coming from, which is so important in life coaching and social service work. And adaptability has helped me navigate challenges and shift when needed, whether that’s creating online communities, hosting workshops, or expanding my services.
For those just starting out, I’d say focus on really honing your communication skills, practice being clear, authentic, and a good listener. Build empathy by engaging with people and understanding different perspectives. And embrace adaptability, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone or try new things, because some of your biggest growth will come from experimentation and even making mistakes along the way.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I honestly think my biggest sources of growth have been the people around me, mentors, colleagues, and the amazing women in my community. Mentors have offered guidance and shared their wisdom when I faced challenges, helping me see possibilities I might have missed. My peers in coaching and social service work have pushed me to learn, collaborate, and hold myself accountable. But the group that’s had the most impact is the community I serve through Chatty Wellness, the women in my online women’s group, and those who engage with me on social media. Their trust, feedback, and energy constantly inspire me to grow, refine my skills, and keep developing the qualities I need to succeed.
