Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Coach Smooth Sue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Coach, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Growing up as the eldest girl of nine brothers and sisters, my family stressed healthy eating. Yet I carved my own path and paid the price with weight gain and gut issues after my second son was born.
So, really I could say that my purpose found me through a personal health awakening. 75lbs overweight, I joined a local gym, changed my diet and began educating myself on how food correlates to wellness.
I realized food and fitness played a larger role in my well-being than I understood. I was guided by Maya Angelou’s wisdom: “When we know better, we do better.” Knowledge became the catalyst for change.
I earned national certifications focused on gut health, group fitness and integrative nutrition, equipping myself with evidence-based tools to help others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My drive to educate and empower culminated in creating something tangible: a space that aligns with my values and supports others on their wellness journey.
EnSue’s Smoothies—the first Black-owned Smoothie Bar in East Point, GA is a manifestation of my purpose: to promote gut-friendly choices, nourish people, and inspire sustainable health within my community. I started this business from a small home based kitchen to a food truck and recently launched a local brick and mortar where we serve plant based smoothies, hand curated acai bowls, cold pressed juices and organic treats.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Curiosity has been a constant catalyst in my life. By seeking guidance and deeper answers, it keeps me abreast on staying healthy while helping others. I’ve also been successful at seeking mentors or peers that challenge me in productive ways. The most impactful skill during my journey would be the ability to treat criticism as information and not a verdict of my worth. There will always be naysayers. You must know your worth.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
“The Four Agreements” by far played a significant role in how I approach life in general.
1. “Being impeccable with your word” is something I always revert back to whenever a situation arises that may require my immediate response, especially in a chaotic situation.
2. “Never taking things personally” is another rule I try to live by. Some people are just releasing their built up toxicity and it doesn’t belong to you.
3. “Not making assumptions” will lessen misunderstandings.
4. The best view comes after the hardest climb. So always do your best.
