Meet Cody Galloway and Megan Trask

We recently connected with Cody Galloway and Megan Trask and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Cody and Megan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

This is a great question and honestly has been our north star throughout this roller coaster experience. No matter where we’ve been in TULA, the purpose and the “why” have remained consistent. As two moms who were struggling to find balance while managing careers and care giving we understand the issue we are solving for incredibly well. It’s been our mission to support our clients, families, and especially women in this mission so the intersection between care and career doesn’t have to be so difficult. As a part of that mission we have always felt it important to make this as accessible as possible because lack of time is a problem everyone faces. While providing a solution is critical, we realize not everyone needs the same type of support so outside of building a solution like TULA, we want to be a part of the change, changing the narrative around asking for help and the stigma and guilt that can go along with that.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

TULA is the life balance platform connecting busy families and working caregivers with personal assistants and chefs at the touch of a button, empowering our clients to find more time in their days as they submit their to-dos through our app. We match those to-dos with vetted and trusted assistants or chefs to make the to-dos disappear! TULA’s in person support truly is your whole house solution because life doesn’t just happen online, although we cover those to-dos, too. We do anything that helps make our clients’ lives easier – grocery shopping, meal planning and prep, errands, laundry, research, scheduling, home organization, the list goes on! We are on fire for shifting the second shift and bringing relief to working caregivers but especially lean into supporting moms, because we’re moms, and we created TULA because it’s exactly what we needed in our own lives and it turns out, so do a lot of other moms and families!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One of the biggest lessons learned has been managing expectations with patience, persistence and grit because building a company truly brings a lot of challenges. Especially if you’re building something that requires a significant behavior change, that growth process is slower but also brings amazing and loyal clients. Being open to learning and getting curious because where you think you are headed evolves throughout the process. In true TULA fashion, getting comfortable with asking for help! There are so many amazing people out there who have done this before and are happy to share and help. There are also so many people who are just smarter than you, and that’s okay, learn from them! Look outside yourself for resources.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

In a literal sense, TULA has added new clients, grown into new markets, added new technology, and streamlined our processes. We can attribute this type of growth to growth as founders becoming for focused, patient, and flexible. When you begin to build a company it is so easy to get lost in the details and to be hyper-focused on every single detail which means it can be difficult to see the big picture growth or victories. Stepping back a bit and focusing on the wins, no matter how big or small, has created a lot of momentum and growth for TULA as a business and for us as founders in the past 12 months.
