Cody, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Confidence and self-esteem come from knowledge and understanding. I know nearly everything there is to know about what I do, still tho , I get nervous before a big job or a new meeting. That feeling goes the moment I start working or answer the first tough question in a client meeting, Then everything falls into place.
Developing real self-esteem is simple: don’t lie to yourself. If you don’t know something, learn. If you don’t want to learn, you don’t love what you’re doing. Luckily ,I love what I do, even though freelance work isn’t always roses. And the job isnt always there the next day. Developing confidence and self-esteem takes honing skills, testing resolve, and proving your mettle over and over again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I was Born in Johannesburg South Africa ,my dad was famous commercial DP. So i grew up on film sets. Its a wild energy and very alive. Everyone has a part and a role. I wanted to be involved but on a more personal scale so i went Freelance and into my own boutique production. I like personal connection and making long term relationships. Its more fun that way.

I’ve spent 12 years creating visual content across two continents, from music videos and movies to weddings and live events. What sets me apart is my international upbringing—it’s given me a unique way of seeing and connecting with people. I can communicate and photograph them in ways that feel genuine, and I think that’s why people keep coming back. I’ve been told so. People either want to be on camera or they don’t and a good artist can capture both.

Its been incredibly tough , it still has ups and downs but what doesn’t. Now im settled in Atlanta, Partnered with local editors, producers and creating content for different companies and influencers. I just did a cookbook and shot my first foreign film to India among many

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Communication, patience, and empathy are skills I’ve learned through experience.
Nothing is more important than communication , getting your idea and point across to someone , letting them know your intent in as a billion dollar industry for a reason. Patience helped me more than i ever thought. Waiting out lies , Grinding out passion projects that need funding , studying drone license exams . All these things pay off. Empathy taught me the value of others time and that people have bad days. I’m a better leader on set for my talent and crew when i know what they are going thru.

These three qualities bolster me to be a better Director. They allow me to show respect for people’s time, projects, and budgets, which in turn builds trust. And for me, trust is everything.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Collaboration is at the heart of what I do , it’s how I work best. I shoot, I direct, I create , it’s my lifeblood. While I enjoy leading certain aspects of projects, Creating is always better with a group. (The Fun needs to be factored in to the budget) Im always looking to work on projects and create with anyone client or creator. Photo or video production.
