We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Colby Beck a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Colby, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I vividly remember the anxiety and fear I felt as a new father, particularly when our daughter was born with significant respiratory issues. It was a deeply helpless experience, knowing that I could do nothing to alleviate her struggles and had to rely entirely on the expertise of the medical professionals around her. That feeling has stayed with me and has profoundly shaped my perspective on care.
It inspired me to pursue a career working with children, where I came to truly understand the sacred responsibility that pediatric providers hold. The trust that a parent places in a medical professional is difficult to put into words—entrusting someone with their child’s well-being is an immense responsibility. I have committed myself to upholding that trust, ensuring that every decision I make is in the best interest of the child. I believe that the generosity in my work flows from the deep respect for that trust and my dedication to providing the best care possible.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a pediatric dentist based in the Colorado Springs, CO area, and I genuinely love what I do. The energy and enthusiasm of the children I work with every day are truly inspiring. In January of 2024, I had the privilege of opening my own private practice, Falcon Pediatric Dentistry, with the vision of creating a dental home that aligns with the values I prioritize in my own family life—namely, fostering a toxin-free, eco-friendly environment.
My journey in dentistry has led me to embrace a more holistic approach, where I strive to bridge the gap between conventional and functional dentistry. At Falcon Pediatric Dentistry, our focus is on listening—truly understanding the unique needs of both the parents and the children we serve. We work together to create personalized treatment plans tailored to those needs.
Every appointment is different, and while we are always prepared to address any immediate concerns, our overarching philosophy centers around prevention. We’d rather take the time to discuss effective preventative measures than focus solely on addressing cavities or treatment after the fact. Our goal is to empower families with the tools and knowledge to maintain optimal oral health long before issues arise.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Balance – As a pediatric dentist, business owner, and father, maintaining balance has been essential. Balancing patient care with running a practice, and making time for my family, has required intentionality. Without balance, it’s easy to burn out or lose sight of what really matters.
Advice: Set clear priorities and boundaries. Learn to delegate, trust your team, and give yourself permission to step away when needed. Balance isn’t about doing everything perfectly—it’s about being present in the moments that matter most.
Integrity – In healthcare, integrity builds trust. Whether it’s making treatment recommendations, educating families on holistic dentistry, or leading a team, I’ve always aimed to do what’s right, even when it’s not the easiest or most profitable choice. Staying true to my values has helped me build long-term relationships and a strong reputation.
Advice: Always put patient well-being first. Be transparent in your decision-making, and don’t compromise your principles for convenience or short-term gain. Over time, integrity will set you apart.
Resilience – Running a practice comes with challenges—navigating patient concerns, handling business hurdles, and adapting to industry changes. Resilience has been key in pushing through obstacles, learning from setbacks, and staying committed to my vision.
Advice: View challenges as growth opportunities. Develop a strong support network of mentors, colleagues, and loved ones who can help you navigate tough times. And remember, resilience isn’t about never struggling—it’s about always finding a way forward.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, I’m always open to collaborating with like-minded professionals who share a commitment to providing excellent, patient-centered care—especially those who align with a holistic approach to dentistry and wellness.
I’m particularly interested in collaborating with:
Pediatric healthcare providers (functional medicine practitioners, chiropractors, lactation consultants, myofunctional therapists, etc.) who share a focus on whole-body health and early intervention.
Dental professionals who are passionate about biocompatible materials, airway-focused dentistry, and minimally invasive techniques.
Community organizations and educators who want to promote healthy habits for kids and families, whether it’s through workshops, school programs, or outreach events.
