We recently connected with Comfy Stennis and have shared our conversation below.

Comfy, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Creativity for me is a form of art therapy. I believe we all need therapeutic practices to help sustain and strengthened our mental health. Often times clinical professionals or therapists will tell us to do things that can be considered creative, like writing, journaling, drawing or painting. Creativity is visualizing something and putting it into fruition. Creatives are open-minded individuals who can find inspiration from multiple sources. To keep and save their creativity, one must set aside time to practice and become well versed in said skillset. When I feel like I am inspired creatively I must write it down. I advise every creative to have a notebook on their phone and a notebook in the physical to bring those ideas to life. When I feel I am losing my creativity, I find ways to take time for myself to replenish. Places that I find inspiration include a vacation or staycation, open mics, art shows, stage plays, classes that cater to my creativity, any body of water, including my tub, lol but I prefer a lake or ocean. I think vacations or peaceful moments allow you to organize your thoughts, prioritize your thoughts, hone your craft as well hear any spiritual guidance that is waiting for you.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Klout Company is our fashion brand that is led by Comfy Stennis and Ardonyalasha Johnson. We invite individuals to be a good vibe through words and fashion. We specialize in hand painting and or heat pressing bags, jackets, hats, Purses and T-shirts. Klout means the power to influence. We want our tribe/supporters to lead the next generation of creativity, film, fashion, music, poetry and dance with a positive energy that sets the tone.  Our founder, Comfy also coordinates events in relation to beauty, fashion or poetry. This year the Klout team will be coordinating the 11th annual curves and confidence fashion show in Kansas City, Missouri, one of the biggest fashion shows in the Midwest catering to BBW and big and tall women and men while being inclusive to every body type. The fashion show will be held in downtown Kansas City, MO at the historic ArtsTech building on November 3, 2024 doors opening at 4 PM CST. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The first quality that has been impactful in my journey is knowing how to talk. Learning how to communicate with family, peers, clients and leaders makes your approachable and relatable. The second quality is being innovative, literally making something from nothing for example lemons to lemonade or mixing paints to get the desired color. The third quality is knowing how to adapt quickly, especially in trying or tight times.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I’ve had two business coaches, business assistance from Kansas City G.I.F.T. and several mentors that have helped me along the way to perfect my skillset and or knowledge of certain subjects to help scale the klout brand as well as other endeavors. Invest in yourself and your brand.
