Meet Conley Wessel

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Conley Wessel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Conley , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose in wanting to provide for my family and help others succeed. That is how my company TurfBlox came to be and the mission that still drives it to this day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am an entrepreneur and sports performance trainer. Through my endeavors as a trainer, I developed a sports performance training tool called TurfBlox. The two companies go hand in hand. While I am able to help athletes locally with my training services, I am also able to help them on an international scale through TurfBlox.

TurfBlox is quickly becoming a recognized tool in sports performance. They have been adopted by professional teams, trainers and athletes in multiple sports. I recently launched a training video library as well. The library offers guidance and instruction on the best ways to utilize TurfBlox to achieve specific performance results.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that were most impactful on my journey so far were perseverance, gratitude and the mindset that there is always something to learn. You have to persevere through the tough times and be thankful for them. Operating as if there is always a something to learn from the people and situations you come across can lead to you finding solutions and success in the most unlikely of places. These three factors I feel help keep things moving in the right direction regardless of the task at hand.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

Is it better to focus on your strengths or invest in areas in need of improvement? I think both are equally important but just as important is how you divide the time given between the two. My strength when starting TurfBlox was my sports training knowledge. I did not know anything about starting a business, manufacturing the boards or even sourcing the materials. Had I not invested time in gaining knowledge about these factors, I may not have been able to put out the product I intended to. I likely would have incurred much higher investment costs too.

I try to map out each day and each week to ensure I dedicate sufficient time to both strength and weaknesses. At the same time, you also have to be able to take a step back and realize when to seek the assistant of someone more qualified. This may take failing at a task. You cannot be afraid of that either.
